I also fished the Hooch today...
But it was the part up here in Duluth, Ga and was only good for a dozen or so rainbow trout and 4 browns (those be freshwater trout to you inshore fisherman and bait to you offshore fisherman)! 
It was a good day on the water nevertheless! It was fun having that line streched!

I personally have both. I would take my Carolina Skiff over any aluminum boat (I have a grizzly) besides a pontoon when you have a group of people. Chalk has hit the nail on the head! I prefer Fiberglass, it's hard to design a quite boat (hull slap) with metal, easily repaired, no corrosion issues.....
