If possible make time to cut over into the dead lakes. It's approx 2/3 of the way down. That was beautiful. Good fishing also.

Re: Bainbridge to Apalach
I made the trip approx 10 years ago and fished my way down there. I took 2 days to get there and slept on a beach area about halfway down the river. Be careful of shallow areas. They sneak up on you pretty quick in some spots. It's a beautiful trip but make sure you are prepared. A lot of places hav...

I needed that. Just laughed my ass off at the mental image of a bunch of flaming armadillos running around setting crap on fire.

I love that pic of your wife fighting that fish with the baby strapped to her.

Re: Fish finder advice needed
I will add my 2 cents worth. I have a lowrance and can attest to their horrendous customer service. When I first purchased my unit 3 years ago it would not hold bottom. After working with support for a few weeks it was finally determined I needed to send the unit back for repair/replacement. 5 weeks...

Re: Apalachicola River
I made the run from Lake Seminole to the bay about 8 or 9 years ago. Took my time and fished my way down camping on a beach about halfway down overnight. Fantastic trip. The river does have hazards to include logs/stumps/shallow areas. Fishing was pretty good for me but I primarily focused on cats. ...

Re: 24 in Gag at Rotary Reef
All depends on who checks you. I was checked last year on the flats out of St Marks and the FWC officer measured a fish at 15 1/4 when I mentioned that is my minimum. He said if the mouth is closed and the tail touches that 15 line at any part "throw it on ice".

Great job getting a kid out and involved. My son is now 16 and still has fun catching ladyfish. To be honest, so do I.

St Marks is barren of scallops. None at all. A few people staying at the fish camp made the drive to Steinhatchee.

Fishing Line
Just looking for some input on fishing lines. I almost exclusively use braid when trout fishing on the flats. The reason for this is that the stretch with mono makes me have to make a big swinging hookset rather than a short forearm hookset with braid. I want to use mono but haven't found one that d...

Newell Brands, the parent company of Pure Fishing, is in the process of selling the PF group to a private equity firm that specializes in consumer products. In addition to the brands you mentioned Gus, Penn is also part of the group, along with All Star, Ugly Stick, Shakespeare, Fenwick, Pflueger a...

I've been there a few times with the family and just watch out for those you choose to anchor near if you have kids. It can get pretty ugly. I launched closer to Ft Walton.

Re: New proposed trout regulations
I disagree with not reducing the commercial harvest. COMPLETELY DISAGREE!!!!! As for myself, it wouldn't hurt my feelings if the did away with harvesting a plus 20 fish. It also wouldn't bother me if they closed the season in JAN and FEB. Too damn cold for me anyway. 5 fish down to 3 is a big move, ...

Re: St Marks boat accident
Very sad indeed. I admit I don't always wear mine but will think twice now. Few years ago I had a German Shepherd that would stand behind the console while under way and would constantly get his head tangled in the cord and unplug it. With that happening a couple of times a trip I stopped wearing it...
