Re: Aluminum vs Fiberglass for our area
I have used both. I still use a jon for winter around Aucilla. I really like the FG ride compared to the bounce and beating from running a CC aluminum.
I have a shallow enough draft in the Action Craft, its a cool surface in the hot sun. Yes there is a little more maintenance.
Once a year I ...

Re: Aluminum vs Fiberglass for our area
I have been holding off commenting on this thread, but I will chime in here to bring up one point I haven't seen. That is the tannin stained water we have to the east and south of St Marks. When I first moved up here in 1994, I bought a brand new Sea Pro Bay that was a great all around boat ...

Aluminum vs Fiberglass for our area
I currently use a 15’ Jon boat that has a narrow beam. I am looking to upgrade (2’ itis). I will be looking between 17-19ft but haven’t decided if I want to go with aluminum or fiberglass. All my fishing is inshore and at most I will have only 3 onboard for sandbar runs.

Fishing the wind
How do you fish the wind for those who fish out of micro skiffs? Or better yet do you have preferred areas you fish based on the direction the wind is blowing?

Re: Florida Marine Tracks around St Marks
I think you get free updates for a year. Also it would be great to see a pre and post update picture just so we can see what was updated.

Re: Florida Marine Tracks around St Marks
FYI there is nothing inexpensive about fmt. From the unit you have to buy, the $350-$500 chip and close to a $150 for an update on a chip less than a year old. It is the best available, but you pay for what you get.
Are you getting the update?

Florida Marine Tracks around St Marks
Where did you get the information that the chip was just updated for st marks, I can’t find anything on it. The tracks are nice, but that’s only a small part of what makes this chip great. Most of the tracks are out a little from the creeks

Florida Marine Tracks around St Marks
Who has Florida Marine Tracks. The last video I saw didn't provide very many tracks around the St Marks area. My understanding is the St. Marks area just got updated. Are there a lot more tracks? Could anyone show an overall picture of St Marks to the Aucilla area?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Aluminum transom repair
I just bought a SeaArk 1548. I removed the jack plate and need to repair the transom and a few other spots before I take delivery of a new Suzuki DF25. Where/who do you recommend to weld and fix the transom?

Re: Jon boat or Gheenoe for flats
Thanks for the feedback. I think until I really get to know the area I’ll go the welded tin boat route.

Jon boat or Gheenoe for flats
I am wanting to get a boat for fishing around in the creeks and flats out around St Marks. 90% of the time I will be solo. I am leaning towards the Jon boat due to all the rocks and oyster bars but I wanted to get you all's opinion. Which would be a better craft?

Kayak trip out of Wakulla Beach 12/10/2020
I got to Wakulla Beach at 10:30 a.m. and was putting in with other kayakers. Another kayaker said he didn't think the fish would be biting since the water was too cold. I was mainly out there to test my new kayak. I decided to head east towards East Goose Creek. At 11:03 I land my first redfish of ...
