Last Post On This Site

After eighteen years here, this is my last post. I'll try make this short. I've always loved coming here to learn and share knowledge that I've gained after fishing the Big Bend for more than sixty years. Lately, all I'm getting is angered when I log on. With degrading, and insulting names aimed at ...

Re: Wakulla County Boat Ramps

Your right Rockyg the fishing has suffered from over fishing in St Mark's. As all areas of the Gulf has. I lived in St. Mark's many years growing up. I lived a few of those years living with Mrs. Joy Brown at Bo Lynn's Grocery. I worked at Shields Marina in 1966 - 1968. I also lived a lot of years o...

Re: Wakulla County Boat Ramps

Since Wakulla County knows how to treat fishermen so well, we should show our appreciation by only going to St. Mark's and Wakulla County to fish even after this mess is over. We should never go back to Taylor County fishing. There's not much fish left there anyway. Especially Spring Warrior and Yat...

Re: Filefish

Didn't know we had them in Gulf. Used to catch them off Jacksonville, and lots in the Philippines, but never caught one in the Gulf.
Also, don't think I've ever caught one over six or seven inches.

Whoah. I'm not the oldest (I mean most senior) forum member here, but I have been here a little while. I'll tell everyone of you here. Y'all need to stop and regroup. We've had some heated discussions over the years here, mostly about fishing. Not about what frigging state you come from. We here use...

Re: Are we allowed to fish?

Yeah your right. Showed the ramp at the old fort day before yesterday on channel 6 news. Making a point to show boats full of people. Even showed a pontoon boat full of folks. So much for common sense social distances by boaters. Remember all the idiots you've all had to wait behind at a ramp. You a...

So was I. Just a suggestion. If you start experiencing fishing withdrawals, the Flint River has some great Crappie, and Flathead fishing.

Re: Are we allowed to fish?

Wes, please go fishing! Lord knows we have enough folks dying. Don't need any more. Especially from self infliction.
BTW, been "stuck at home since 2005 when I retired. Have nightmares about going back to work. Best life a fisherman could have.

I've found one sure sign that the Cobia are in is when one is spooling me. Otherwise it always seems all the other signs are pretty unreliable.

Re: Are we allowed to fish?

Listen, ain't one of y'all could love being on the Gulf more than I do, but don't do it. Especially if your crossing state lines. Look at it this way, many of you here pride ourselves in your "catch and release" stand. Well my brothers, here is a good chance to expand that. Think of all th...

Do it the Marine Corps way. Savage 410 gage.
Seriously, I had to close off any place the little turd makers could make a nest on my carport.

I woke up this morning tired, sore all over, felt like I just spent two days fighting big Red fish.
Oh yeah, that's right. I did.

Re: Yates Creek Tues. Mar.10th.

Hey there Reb actually it was dead calm. Barely a breeze. Beautiful day.
Went back out this afternoon for about an hour and a half. Caught six Reds. Three over 27, one 26.5, one 25, and one 22 inches. We caught two trout over 20 also. Had a hard time catching pinfish today.

Re: coastal rivers

Can't see much difference on the flats around Yates. Water still very clear. Did find fish yesterday on the flats. Still, they were located a short distance from creeks.
