We did the same thing 3 keeper trout 5 rock bass and fished from 3-7 with no concentration of fish anywhere. We didn't have pinfish but tried cut bait , every color gulp shrimp and jerk shad with no success. Guess it's time to start allowing some extra time to catching pins. As always we enjoyed the ...

Re: Moon Phases

Thanks for the interesting replies, I am going to look at some mobile apps. I have experienced an awesome bite on both rising and falling tides then a diminished bite on the other side of the tide and have been unable to pin it down. I have started keeping notes but a bad tide won't keep me at home ...

Moon Phases

Question relating to moon phases. I was always taught the best time to go fish was when you can but I am trying to make the best of my trips and I was wondering if there is a direct correlation to fishing the rising or falling tides on waxing or waning moon phases?

Re: July 26th fishing and scalloping Keaton beach

Glad the scallops worked out for you. It was tough today we launched at 9:00 and took out at 5:00 wound up with 11 keeper trout nut couldn't find the last four. We never got in the water to look for scallops. The wind was 15+ all days and the fish were scattered.

Re: Keaton scalloping 7/19/14

Thanks for another great report, no specifics but did you find scallops north or south? The Big Grassy scallops were thin on Tuesday but the weather was also bad. I manged to scrap a 2 man limit near Dekle.

Re: July 12th Fishing/Scalloping @ Keaton Beach

Great report, I will be there Tuesday thru Thursday with my baby boy(21) who has a few days off and really wants to go scalloping. The trout were very cooperative on Saturday after the rain but we never tried the scallops. I plan to go back south to Big Grassy to scallop on low tide and fish north ...

Re: Scalloping reports???

We never scalloped in water deeper than 5' and did very well. During the morning low tide on Monday the scallops were almost too shallow. The water was a little cloudy in 7'.

Re: Scalloping reports???

Just got home this afternoon. Plenty of scallops at Keaton, BIG Grassy. 10 gallon limit on Saturday with 2 first timers onboard took about 5 hrs. The wife and I took 4 gallon limits on Sunday and Monday. Trout were fairly cooperative north 4-5ft on pin fish under popping cork.

Re: Scalloping next sat????

We will be at Keaton Beach on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Looks like we will be scalloping in the mornig on Saturday and Sunday with 9 and 10 am low tides. Looks like we may be there almost by ourselves.
