Re: Chirp Chirp

We could have a thread just about gundogs. :D My experience of using pointers, has been spoilt by dogs ranging far ahead, not being too steady on the point and prematurely flushing the bird. The other gripe, is nice steady dogs, guns approach to within 5 yards, bird flushed and shot at 10 yards. Not...

Re: Chirp Chirp

Another good batch of pics, you have some lovely country there. I have never worked springer spaniels, further than 30 yards, when flushing birds. At that distance they are trained to turn and sit at flush. Not much experience with pointers, most of my game shooting has either been driven birds, or ...

Re: Chirp Chirp

Thanks Danibeth, very nice pictures.
That is some great, dense bird holding cover in the woodland picture, hard work for a lot of dogs.
Is that the reason for the collar fitted locator aerial ?

Re: Florida Sportsmen Forums clown down.

The old bickering and craziness was cleaned out of FS Forum some years ago.
I think they all moved to Faceache, or somewhere similar. :D

Re: Florida Sportsmen Forums clown down.

Before the funny comments start,I have to confess that the title for this thread should read "Florida Sportsmen Forums closing down ".
I blame prescriptive text on my old office software. :o

Florida Sportsmen Forums clown down.

As from 6th July Florida Sportsmen is closing down all of its Forums.
Hopefully, members from the NWFlorida region will migrate here.
Many of them (like me) have had an interest in both Forums and are nice people. :)

Re: Sheepshead

It was hard luck to lose a good fish, especially to a broken hook.
Friends laughed at me for replacing all my lure hooks, especially the single ones and replacing the "popular" flies in my box, every year.
Very funny, but I never lost a fish due to faulty hooks.

Follow the buoy line out of Appalach.
In the past I have seen some very big fish there and also caught a few of the smaller ones.

Re: the older I get

A lot of the time just being there, is where the enjoyment springs from. Its nice to think back over past experiences and relive the pleasure, something I do a lot. Regarding knee replacements. I had my right knee done in 2005 and the left one in 2010. Both have had plenty of miles on them and so fa...

Re: Eastpoint / Apalach report

Some good memories in those pics, I fished that area with Captain Ron on quite a few occasions.
This evening we had a lot of action with reds up river near bear creek, where, on one trip we did see a young bear swimming.
