Re: Scallop season only a month away. .

The beds in Keaton used to be beautiful, with many types of neat algae in the mix also. Last two years they have been covered with silt all the way down past hagen's cove. Heavy layer of slit, and much less variety of neat stuff to look at. Also saw lots of slit in many places in steinhatchee, and s...

Re: Scallop season only a month away. .

Well, I am excited. I get out at least once every 10 days or so during the season. Fish a little before or after based on the low tide time. I am very worried about the population health, and I don't like the spend out season opening times. I think they concentrate more people on the early sections ...

Re: gps map questions

I had never heard or read that saying and it sort of sounded like he was asking how big the boat was. I understand buy as much as you can afford, perhaps I can swing the 5". I just dropped a fair amount of the savings on a younger, bigger motor and a used aluminum trailer. I've been working wit...

Re: gps map questions

Not sure what your trying to say by "2 foot isit. I assume you need to slow down typing. I also have no idea what the HP or a 4" screen has to do with asking about map programs. I could be putting this on a small boat or I don't need the largest, greatest unit out there just to enjoy some ...

gps map questions

I have only had a fish finder on my boat and will be moving up to a duel unit very soon since it died. I am going with a ray marine dragonfly 4 pro. Options for the maps are navionics+ or Cmaps. Any thoughts between the two? I will be inshore or near shore maybe 10 miles at the most. I just don't kn...

Re: Does anyone use the Livingston lures?

Well I bought one and tried it on a trip to Keaton. It was a very windy day and i caught very few fish. nothing on the lure yet. The only two target fish were trout on a white/chartreuse gulp. Funny thing at the end of the day. We tried trolling for mac's or anything and the only bit was a 2" p...

Re: Keep hand sanitizer on the boat and use it!

About 25 years ago I contracted Mycobactirium marinum from being cut in a fish tank on a piece of live rock/coral. I got real sick over a few months while they tried to figure out what it was. One of the many doctors I had called an associate in NYC and they figured it out and then I was on two anti...

Re: Keaton Beach

We were out last weekend. Looked like some kayakers had done real good on trout earlier in the day. They were cleaning a mess at the ramp. It was windy but we tried and got one good keeper trout.

Re: Keep hand sanitizer on the boat and use it!

Gary, glad you got treatment in time and are doing better.
I tend to be the type to shrug off wounds, even deep ones. I have Chlorhexidine at the house but I really need to add some to the boat. Thanks for the rude awakening it could save some lives or major doctor bills.

Re: Does anyone use the Livingston lures?

The ones I am considering are $7.99 at BP. Does anyone use a electronic noise making lure? Or are they just an extra gimmick beyond the rattle lures?

Does anyone use the Livingston lures?

I noticed someone using them in a video and it seems like it's the next step up from all the rattling lures. They emit bait fish noises and rattle. The price isn't to bad, on most models. Any thoughts?

Re: COTTON MOUTH / St Marks

They can sure be aggressive, but there is a possibility that it was seeing your boat as a place to get out of the water. Were you out in the water a ways? Might have been looking for land, may have been being just snotty, can't be sure.

Re: Minimal winter tide?

I generally prefer an incoming tide also, but for some reason the only bites I am getting the last month have been on the outgoing, mid day. And those were all under sized fish. The morning low tide is negative so the incoming would move some water, but the out going is pitiful. Some of the reports ...

Minimal winter tide?

I am still somewhere on the learning curve for winter fishing. I was doing great until end of Dec. then poof. Next weekend the high tide going to low tide has a tiny drop. Most places I am considering are 2.1 to 1.5. that would be very little water movement. Is it worth giving it a go or just save t...
