Re: Errors in the trout assessment
I have to ask, it stated a guide was against 40% reduction because it will hurt his business but they are ok with closing in Feb. and maybe even Jan. Wouldn't that kill business also? Should I assume they would still take charters out to catch (stress out, maybe kill ) and release during these two ...

Re: FWC & Fishing Regulations
I would guess that 300#'s over on flounder was not a freak accident, but a regular occurrence for them. They just got caught finally.

Re: Horseshoe trip
I saw two TT that looked way under size, I've only caught 1 legal one and that was before the size bumped up. Nice place , I'll make another run sometime soon.

Re: Horseshoe trip
I went North all the way up to pepperfish area and around. Tried to find some of the drop offs and any mixed bottom and grass edges.

Horseshoe trip
So I took a trip to Horseshoe on Sat. second time there. Had a decent trip last time with a handful of trout not much else.
This trip was early morning until 1pm. We tried out in 10' or so we tried in at 4' we drifted. We saw small groups of other boats here and there that moved around a lot ...

I have but always put a lock on it and use a type that the door for the card can be locked. Scum will steal the card if they find it, so all your hard work is now their easy work to look through your pictures.

Re: Scalloping......
Since there are so few scallops to make a meal, I will suggest what we do with them.
Stuffed on the half shell.
2 cups yellow rice ( cooked and cooled)
2 cups extra sharp cheddar or less to your taste
1 teaspoon roasted garlic powder
snipped garlic or onion chive to you taste, I use more then a ...

Watch out at Dark Island boat ramp
Just a heads up. The dark Island boat ramp had two damaged areas a few months back a big cracked area that's out of the water a lot of the time has been patched with black top. There still remains a chunk missing just about in the middle in the water maybe 10-12 feet at low tide. It will snag on to ...

I've seen two types in the last 10 years and I've thought about trying them but I believe all types are off the list for taking.Hit-n-Miss wrote:Never seen the short spined variety while scalloping.

Re: Scalloping......
16 spoiled us since they were so thick around steinhatchee you could limit out in 30min. I wonder if the numbers were so high because in 15 noone could scallop around steinhatchee since the water was so cloudy.

Re: Florida Sportsman article about the red tide epidemic
I was going to post that earlier but the day got busy. X2, The article is not about red tide! It mentions red tide four times and it's unneeded each time.

Re: beware of Craigslist
There are more scammer then good people out there these days. Many find it easier to be scum then to work for what you get. I would have had a hard time not laughing hysterically as I walked away. It's possible even that he got someone else to take him by telling tales of being left at the dock.
Re: bent skeg
Nice looking guard!
I would trust that style a lot more then the skeg guard, but then how many people replace the bolts with too hard a metal? so it doesn't sheer off?

Re: Bait selection in hot/dirty water
We hit the northern Steinhatchee area two weeks ago and threw just about everything we could think of at the trout. Got a few takers on glow colored soft bait on a lightly weighted hook, dead mullet chunk , and a shallow diving super shinny white and gold rattle with a red face. Everything else was ...
