Re: Aucilla trip

What did the bream fisherman have? I was looking for mullet at the Rise and bream fishing with a lure just to make a day out of it after there were no mullet and I pulled out a big Shellcracker which I had never done on a lure unless you count the time I caught one on a spinner.

Re: I’ve been fishing in the same spot for almost a whole year

6-12 I went to the upper Aucilla for the first time since it flooded before this time. So it’d been about 3 years as I said in the first post, and it wasn’t quite right yet by the eye test. On top of that a tree was down at all 3 landings I checked out. I almost said forget it and just didn’t go but...

I’ve been fishing in the same spot for almost a whole year

:smt012 :smt012 :smt012 With everything flooded the last 2 years etc etc etc. And in the place I was fishing, which you can guess, it was to black for mullet fishing. I hate going fishing in the same place over and over so it is on next week. I saw today that the Aucilla is finally right again on my...

Re: Local reports????

FB is king of the masses. Also our region has took a hit even more in that regard because of a FB group that has taken off in the last year. The guy who runs it goes fishing every week, and sometimes every day, and he could be on TV and revive the old timey variety TV show he’s so hilarious.

Re: Anyone ever fish the freshwater side of Hickory Mound?

Almost everything I’ve ever caught there was on the freshwater side on the incoming tide in the 1 well known spot. I wonder though if that’s just the 1 school of Redfish that swims in through that pipe every time. I’ve never put in there and fish that whole impoundment. I’ve never seen anybody do it...

I’m about ready to go try it now because so many other places are flooded.

Re: Still Learning, St. Marks, 7/5/04, long, **UPDATED**

In 2004 I hadn’t caught my first mullet yet. I caught my first 1 and a few more in 2007 I think it was, which was 1 of those 2 or 3 years in the 2000s where they were sardine thick in the rivers. I didn’t catch anymore again until I finally learned how. In other words I didn’t just catch 1 because t...

I miss the days when every restaurant had crispy crinkle cut french fries. But besides that that was a great story.

Re: Where do the sheepshead go?

They’re like Specks in my experience. They’re always out there just not schooled up in the most streamlined spot.

Re: Frogging

I love frog gigging but I’ve gotten so dang sorry I about don’t go do anything fishing related at night anymore. It would be a good summer for it though with all the backwater.

Re: This forum is dead

I went and loaded up on bream one good time. Then another time I went stomping and brought home 2 Warmouth and a fat Stumpknocker that I hated to keep he was so big but I was hungry. Then I went a time before and came home empty handed back in like the first week of April when the night before weath...

Re: When you find them

I don’t get to go in the winter but from what I’ve seen on FB it was been killer. Redfish after redfish. I’ve seen more Redfish pictures than deer or hog pictures for the first time ever I think.

Re: Cajun Sleigh spinner

Yeah alot of people do that with soft plastics. I think that Sleight thing would be killer though. I always thought a Little George would be killer on the flats, just not our flats because we’d stay hung on the rocks. The Sleigh looks like it eliminates that by less than 100% but still a lot.
