Re: Kayak Fishing St. Mark's

That "plant" photo looks like a seashell egg casing. Kayak launch from the lighthouse saves you a good 10 minutes of paddling from the ramp if you are heading east towards Sand Cove or Big Cove. Both areas can produce, especially at higher tides. The low negative tides that I like for wad...

Re: Kayak Fishing St. Mark's

Well we didn't end up going to St. Mark's, but if anyone is interested there is a nice article on the area in the latest Florida Sportsman. We mostly fished the Shell Point and Oyster Bay areas both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was a nice day out but only 4 keepers between the both of us - 3 Spanis...

Kayak Fishing St. Mark's

Going kayak fishing with a friend this weekend. We'll either go to the Wakulla Beach flats or try St. Mark's for the first time. If we go to St. Mark's I'm guessing we should head East from the lighthouse towards Sand Cove and Big Cove? Any tips on paddling and fishing this area? Also does anyone kn...

Re: Kayak Accessible Locations for March 1, 2014

Well nothing to report today. Only sign of life was the occasional solitary mullet jumping and two large gators. Pretty strong breeze from the southwest today that helped on our paddle east towards the creeks from wakulla beach. Quite a few other kayaks and anglers on the water. Someone I talked to ...

Re: Kayak Accessible Locations for March 1, 2014

Thanks for the post and the link. Mostly I fish with artificials although if I see any bait I may try to net some. Hope to have some good news and pictures to update with come Monday.

Kayak Accessible Locations for March 1, 2014

Hey Everyone, Planning on doing some kayak fishing this weekend with my Dad. We are relatively new to the area and kayak fishing in general and I was looking for some suggestions on where to take the kayaks. Normally we fish off the Shell Point beach area and nearby Walker Creek and while it was gre...
