Shoals?

I can't get out myself so has anybody fished the Ochklocknee or Dog Island shoals lately? Rain & the slightly favorable St. George reports suggest that the trout have been pushed south. :o

Same story for me on the 10th. Caught the falling tide at noon. The water is red but it's tannin and not cloudy so I think the fish have good visibility. We caught a few legal trout and 10-12 right at 15". The lady fish were fun. Two extremes, the CT without moving it at all worked much better ...

Thanks all, I'm reminded as to why I asked. It sounds like Aucilla, which I know well. The boat is a 1999 Polar flats series model 1796 -17'5" with a 6'8" bow. It's a research boat and of course, a great fish boat. We do have our priorities. We had a Honda 50 on it and it was underpowered ...

Suggestions for Keaton?

New Topic, I need some help. I’ve never been Keaton Beach and I will be trying out a new motor (from Jacks) before I trailer back to Wakulla. I assume Keaton is the best option near Perry. CS’s recent report was good as to the range of water he tried. I’ll have a topo but I need more general s...

Wevans, hoped you'd chime in here on this. As Tom said, and I've figured out, this isn't the FS board. People around here have been really helpful.

CS, appreciate your thoughts. I agree with not reporting information that is untrue. I also read Tom's response about his rock pile numbers. His response was right on. Numbers are too specific to give away. Your suggestion is that the alternative would be to not have reported about the scallops at a...

Tom, Obviously I edited my post here and at FS. What's your opinion of that? Respones on the FS board were real negative. It was generally about expecting an invasion of people. I think it's a "not in my back yard" response. I respected the "democratic" postion of the majority on...

6/3 Scallops at Lanark

Early reports indicate that there might be some scallops at Lanark this year.

Ken, I use a sit-in. It's a 12ft Wilderness Systems Pungo. I spent months researching which boat to buy. I went sit-in to stay dry in the creeks in the winter. A sit-on would be better spring summer fall. Kayaks have really diversified in models in the last few years. Mine is fast, stable, easy to f...

CS, you asked, What would you do if you hooked onto something like a big manta or cobia in that toy boat. I've had big fish pull my 18'. It might be fun for a few minutes till it headed off shore. Good question. I've spent a lot of time planning for that. Chasing big cobia in a kayak is a challenge ...

I think I would have been more intimidated if I wasn't directly in front of the Marine Lab, and in less than 3 feet. If I was deeper and didn't know what it was? Oh $%#@!! The kayak I use is real stable so that helps. The stealth factor is great and I'm learning a lot because of it. A lot happens ri...

A mixed bag. First trial with a new rod and reel –Cabelas Prodigy (Capricorn Clone). In the kayak at first light the tide was low without much water moving –not the choice tide but you fish when you can fish. Early a couple shorts w/ CT pink/red tail grub. One more on the Chug Bug, and a couple ...

Anecdotal biology... I guess that’s kind of like fishing. I have found scallops at Lanark this year. They were fingernail sized new recruits. I’m not concerned yet. It is actually 6 weeks away and scallops can “swimâ€

Where can I fine P-Line?

I really like this stuff but I can't find it locally and I'd rather support local business. I was told on another thread that it is available somewhere in town. Anybody know where?
