I'm copying my response to a similar question a few weeks ago. I don't address Indian Pass proper because I have fished it very little. Given that you're so close to St Joe I'd have to go there. Drifting Pilchards or pinfish while throwing other stuff should work. Report from 5/4. I fish St Joe a lo...

Great report. Interesting about the CT. That's a change and I've read elsewhere that topwater caught trout this week end. If that's true it's a change as well. Any more reports on water color? Word is that Lanark is really clearing up. Posting strategy is like pretending I'm there, but I'm stuck at ...

I agree with Tom's directions. What I want to add is that the answer to your question will take some time because there are a lot of places. Welcome, you have arrived in a paradise for fishing.

I use P-Line extra strong and it's great stuff. It's a composite like PP and it costs less. I have not used PP. I have not found P-Line locally. I'm I used to use Ande tournament.

First, clarification on the weight difference. The difference in weight between the Prodigy 2000 and 2500 is 1.4 oz. The difference between the Capricorn 2000 and the Prodigy 2000 is .3 oz. I’d say 3/10 is insignificant but, for me, 1.4 is not. Agreed about the line capacity being an issue. I real...

I decided on the Prodigy too. Tackletour convinced me. I haven't fished it yet because I miscalculated the size I wanted -too big. I ordered the 2500 and I'm waiting for the replacement 2000. I fish as light as I can. I was concerned about how it might be short changed compared to the Capricorn. I s...

Interesting subject. I don’t often (enough) find people thinking this much about such things. Hypothesizing is my favorite part about fishing. When you’re out there and the puzzle comes together (aka catch fish) it’s great. That’s especially true when you’ve planned you’re day carefully ...

Cabelas Prodigy Reel

What am I missing here? I need to know how Cabelas Prodigy stacks up to the Capricorn. The Prodigy has an extra bearing & they've reduced the weight in the reel, from where? Cabelas won't tell me. Does anybody have a suggestion on what I should be aware of with buying a clone(OEM)? The Cabelas p...

I've been fishing out of a kayak for about two years now and it's taught me a whole lot about fishing -and I've been obsessed for a real long time. Your range is limited in a kayak so you have to figure out how to catch fish where where you are. You know they're there. What I didn't put in my origin...

St. Joe 5/4 Topwater

The big trout did finally wake up this weekend in St Joe(chug bug). I caught 6 +20" and a few ~18". Great trip but even with those fish it seemed real random as to where. It was a lot of work (I am in a kayak). Nothing on the CT -which usually seems to be the case over there. One 24" ...

Report from 5/4. I fish it a lot out of my kayak. If you don't know the place don't expect it to act like the Big Bend. You have to think out of the box over there. I strongly recommend pilchards or pinfish. It just seems to be the ticket over there. I've thrown everything else and I don't have any ...

Ken, thanks for the report. I've gathered elsewhere that you can be pretty critical about equipment. Good. But even with that you don't sound like you came away from your field test real convinced. I'm sure it's a great reel and it may be splitting hairs between it and the new Stradic. I do think th...
