In the words of Colonel Klink, nothing, nothing, nothing.

Re: Aucilla 1/11

Stagnant water heats up quicker than moving water with direct sunlight. If there is a large high tide, then alot of the cooler water (because it is coming in from deeper depths) is now mixing with the warmer water, thus cooling it down. Ideally, for me any way, I want a high tide that is not fallin...

Re: Aucilla 1/11

Puzzles. Salinity is relevant but not a driving factor relative the the bigger variables, temp & food. Moving water determines much of those two so is what I focus on. Mud/Dark Bottom. Yes Yes Rising AM low. Sun. Southern light wind (not N). Minimal tide, not extreme. Reminds me why I bought a k...

Re: Aucilla 1/11

OK don't call child protective services for my efforts to brainwash my girl into being a fisher. :D Been a project for me for 8 years now. Soon it will happen, "Honey, I know you've taken them twice this week but they're begging to go." I'm a scientist, so this discussion of water tempera...

Re: Aucilla 1/11

But...
An under appreciated variable: Acclimation
I think if we have not had a serious cold snap before the middle of December
then the trout won't ever be in the creeks in any real numbers.
Like you said, who knows?

Re: Aucilla 1/11

Great report. Couple minutes later I catch a Blue, thought that was kinda weird, being that I was way back in a creek I caught one a week ago real shallow. ?? I caught a 5lb Pompano in late Jan up a St Marks Creek, a few years ago. ?? By this time the water had really began to move in, so we decided...

Re: Shimano snags PowerPro 1/5/2009

It seems fitting that the word snag is in a topic about Power Pro. Maybe Shimano will fix some of the batch issues. Thanks. It ain't just me. I have some that's been on a reel forever and another I spooled before Christmas that I gave up on, but not without cussing a few times. Second spool that's ...

Re: 1-9 Shell Point

Nice going Lit. No pics of the trout? I caught it wading pretty far from my kayak and since I guessed maybe a 25" I had to measure. I kept her in the water all the way and told myself I'd unpack the camera if she went 25. She was tired, I wanted to get back in it. Swim away. :D One day it'll b...

1-9 Shell Point

"Glad" to read it was slow going for others as well. I rushed out of work to fish the falling tide off Long Bar.
I did catch a thick 24" trout and a couple more just shy of 20. I found three reds about 18".
The trout was a beauty.

Re: Soft jerk baits

I like the weedless hook but to get the distance I sometimes need (yes, 10lb Power Pro, full spool...) I like to use a 1/16 oz jig with the Zulu baits because they are very bouyant and will suspend a 1/16oz jig in 6" of water. You can slow them down and they will actually work level in the wate...

Re: Oyster Bay 1/4

Wondering, since you fellas have made enough observations, :D
the reds I caught this past weekend were brutal fighters (20-26") and fought better
than I recall in warmer weather. Any thoughts on that?
It doesn't really make sense in terms of metabolism, energy, and what I get with trout.

Re: Soft jerk baits

This here Cobia (February) says:
Strike King 3X Plastic Baits - Zulu
I get on the water a little better than once a week and I've used the
same (1!) bait since the middle of November.
Just saying.
But please don't put one on a Mikes 1/16 oz jig, they aren't any good.
