Welcome aboard the forum. At leasst you were out there. The dirty water is a real problem now, we fished at Keaton Friday and had the same problem. All our trout were too short, but we did catch some real big black bass on white grubs and cut bait.

MJ, that's amazing. I haven't caught 'em like that in years. I'm thinking about going Wednesday, wonder if they're still there?

  WTG, Big. Too bad the bite wasn't better, but at least you and the misses got to go out. We plan to fish a charter out of Brunswick this fall, so maybe the bite will improve before then.

Fish'in must really be off right now. Nobody's doing much, and it's so close to fall they should be start'in to bite. Isn't it strange how you can get fish in an area one day, then come back the next and nuth'in be there?
The whiting should be showing up in Ochlochnee Bay soon, they're fun.

Econfina 8-24

I don't know if anybody's fished the Econfina or not, but we went last Wednesday. Arrived at 8am, tide rising. Tried topwater at mouth and got 1 good hit and miss on devilhorse. Went over to Possum gap and tried for reds but no action there either. We noticed the water around the mouth is very dark,...

LATE EVENING BASS'IN

Went over to neighbor's pond late thurs. evening for some bass fish'in. Started on shallow end where lots of weeds grow out in the water, only takers small fish. Did you get the big red? and were there any big trout out there? Aucilla has had some big trout this year. I'll be glad when it cools down a little so we can go back.

I guess ya gotta go at night ta catch some fish now. What is it, the heat of the day makes 'em wanna bite late when it cools off? I'm gonna get brave one night and try that night fish'in. It sounds a lot like the night bass fishing we did when I was a kid, and we did good most nights. Almar, ...

Redbelly,
The trout wern't at Keaton last Monday when I went there. NADA!!
Probably the worst trip of the year for us. Ran off the water at 10 am by huge thunderstorm. Never really got to hunt fish, spent most time just catching bait. The trout just didn't bite. We got some choice pins for bait.
