Re: Power pole question on Frontier
You also need to know the distance from level ground to bottom of the hull. All trailers are not the same. Bunks, axles, tires & wheels can make a big difference between 2 boats heights. You can also lower the power pole several inches and it still won't protrude beyond the motor.

I have a friend that puts them on the smoker and says that they are excellent. I'm still waiting for a sample.

Fleece under a rain suit. I wore fleece tops and bottoms under a Cabela's Guide Wear rain suit, in the winter, chasing stripers on Lanier. Many mornings were low teens and at 30+ mph you know if you have any leaks.

Re: Apalachicola Bay fishing in pontoon boat
Depth is more like 3-6', except for the shallow areas. In the winter you won't see 7' unless you're in the rivers. Shrimp or jigs with a tail.

Re: Apalachicola Bay fishing in pontoon boat
I'd recommend fishing East Bay. The oyster bars hold a lot fish in the fall/early winter You would also have access to East River, Whiskey George and Cash's Creek. A big plus is that you would be sheltered from east & north winds, which are the prevailing direction at that time of year.

Re: joining 100lb BRAID to 50yards of 250lb Shock Leader
I used the double trilene knot for 20 years when I added 60-100 mono to my line, for a bite tippet. Year before last I went to the "FG knot" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oohOoOOmbNk It makes for a much smaller knot and a smoother transition.

Down load Adblock Plus and eliminate pop up ads. Been using for years and don't get any pop ups.

Re: Bear Hunts Postponed for 2016
Based on the number of young bears I see, the males start chasing them off the sows in Sept/Oct (these are 18 month old cubs). The sows get bred in fall/early winter and go into "hibernation" in Jan/Feb to give birth. I don't know when the cubs are totally weaned.

Re: Bear Hunts Postponed for 2016
Here's what I just sent them...we'll see if I get a response. While I have no interest in hunting bears, I feel your vote is a slap in the face to sportsmen and the wildlife of Florida. You have totally disregarded the science and staff recommendation presented to you to favor a protest based on une...

Re: Thoughts on knots
All of those" double whatever" knots make a big lump and if it goes through your tip top guide, one of 2 things will occur...you'll knock the insert out at a most inopportune time or you will degrade the "double whatever to the point it will fail. If you're casting learn the FG knot, ...
