Re: St Marks Scallops

Still cleaning from today’s trip. Season ends Sunday. Ends for me today as I’m having my knee scoped tomorrow. So some may be mad at me for saying this but THEY ARE RIGHT OFF THE SANDBAR!!!! This is the perfect opportunity to take out kids or friends to try it for the first time as it is the easiest...

Re: St Marks Scallops

We weren’t the only ones out there. As always, look for boats with dive flags up. Run about to where the old bird rack was before turning east. Watch for flags.

Re: St Marks Scallops

There were two of us and we ended up a half cup shy of our two man limit. We did move three times as the tide dropped and found more at each stop. We’re actively scalloping for just over two hours.

The meat was definitely large. Can’t wait to get out again. Hopefully this weekend.

Re: Redfish head to the bars for Memorial Day!

I attribute the success to meeting Redbeard at the Shields ship store while picking up the shrimp. Some of that Dustin magic must have passed thru his greeting.

Redfish head to the bars for Memorial Day!

We had a great afternoon off an oyster bar out St. Marks. My daughter, her boyfriend and I fished under a cork and off the bottom. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220530/89f4c68b1bfd7f9dc84206fc3722bf5b.jpg We had three dozen smallish shrimp we fished two at a time. We caught seven redfish - four...

Re: Are the fish on the flats at St. Marks?

Water temp was 74.5 this past Saturday. Got 2 reds and one trout in 4' of water. Went Sunday 9 to 2. No luck around the bars at low tide. Headed to the east flats. Shields was out of shrimp so I used a sabiki rig to catch pins tipped with spent gulp. Pins were sparse but we were able to get around ...

I’d say the best strategy is to find someone to go with you.

Re: Veterans Day 2021- St. Marks

Also out there yesterday. We got on the water around 11. Found no love on the bars at the river mouth. Went out and drifted the east flats where we picked up two keeper trout - one a nice eighteen incher - and a keeper Black Sea bass, amongst the dozen shorts we caught. Wind laid down after noon and...

I was at Railroad Square tonight for First Night and told Harry to expect you. He was really pleased with all of your recommendations and excited to see the posts.

Re: Panacea wading?

Is skippers road passable? I’ve read different things online. Either in normal times or after rain like we’ve had?
