A good time, except for the fuel bill, I see we should have ran out to 90ft to find the fire trucks.

Shell Point 3/10-12
Well March came around and I had to pay what I owed for a research trial on a product I formulated. The researcher wanted a sheepshead trip so I decided we'd take my boat one day and a guide for another day. And I even bought a fancy new quest trolling motor since my current terrova shaft is to ...

Re: Panacea Offshore 2/11-12
What are your favorite ways to prepare grunts for a meal, not bait?
Small ones I cut like a bream and fry them, ones big enough to filet I normally grill on the Blackstone with old bay and taijin for fish tacos, old bay, Tuscan herb butter, and dillo dust if they are going with rice instead ...

I can't believe people throw grunts back lol, they are way too good in the grease or on the Blackstone for that

Yeah them were not caught in the river, they were caught in a creek over towards big pass. I don't fish the river, I can't stand retards fishing in the middle of the channel

Definitely no complaints, I love making fish tacos from grunts so while we didn't find grouper we had plenty of tacos

After the good offshore trip we had before Christmas I got the itch and decided the weather looked good enough to throw a trip together last week. My boss knows if I take off a random day during the week the weather must be right to run offshore :-D

Re: What size boat?
Remember every boat is a compromise. It’s not just about length. If you want to fish offshore primarily, you will want a longer boat, with a deeper-V, and higher gunnels/sides. All these features will work against you if you want to fish in shallow water. A bay boat can fish in kinda shallow water ...

Re: What size boat?
I've had a 17, 19, 20, and I now have a 24. The 20 was probably the best compromise for running offshore and fishing inshore as it would float in 10in. The 24 is a lot more comfortable offshore and it drafts 13in and runs pretty skinny with the jack plate and trim tabs down but it ain't a creek boat.

They are actually floats, I usually do them when I do squid but we only used shrimp this trip because all the squid ended up getting sucked out of my baitwellJohn21:6 wrote: December 23rd, 2025, 5:35 pm Outstanding. I love all the pictures. What are the yellow and orange things next to your hooks? Colored weights, beads?

Re: St marks 12/17
Dad gum good couple days! Thanks for sharing, espically the pictures. Went to Aucilla yesterday with my 2 boys (worth the trip whether we caught anything or not). Put in at about 12:30 to have a little water. Fished in the river for about an hour and caught 3 keeper trout and a pile of shorts. Not ...

St marks 12/17
Headed out with customers with Asa Martin and waded our way through people fishing the middle of the channel again. Got to see the FJB skiff :-D
As usual a great time with Asa, even if one of my bunch had to be put in time out for all the jig heads he kept hanging on rocks. The first spot was ...
