Re: Bait Runner Reels Worth the Weight and Complexity??

I have a Penn SSV 6500 with the baitrunner feature that I used for live bait fishing. It's a pretty beefy reel and a bit too heavy to use casting plugs, did some shark fishing with it too; it was pretty sweet. As far as a bait dunking reel I loved it.

Re: Cape San Blas

A good drift anchor and a smooth anchor trolley is your pal in that situation. I normally have a small which is a 2500 FK with 200ish yards of 10lb braid, and my bigger is a 4000 FK with 200ish yards of 20 lb. If I'm out for sea monsters I bring the 6000 Penn, drift anchor, portable radio, and a san...

Re: Car shopping for our daughter

The Honda Fit is a great car too.

Also would recommend Mazda 3, VW Rabbit/Golf/Jetta (those 2.5 5 cylinder motors are bulletproof).

Or a Ford Ranger, 2.3 I4 and manual trans.

HVAC

I started renting out my townhome in Tallahassee while I've been up in Boston.

Tenant called this morning reporting HVAC is down.

Any recommendations for a local and honest HVAC serviceman?

Thanks for any information!

Re: I need a two piece spinning rod.

Update. It's been 4 weeks and I've still yet to wet a line. Went out to local Bass Pro Shops to look at rods, I really wanted to try before I buy. The Bass Pro in Foxborough is crazy, complete with built in waterfall and shooting gallery for the children. I previously mentioned I didn't want to spen...

Re: drift sock questions

Drift sock on kayak is essential. The bit of drag helps stabilize the kayak in the chop too.

Re: I need a two piece spinning rod.

Thanks for responses SG, JB.

I was between the 13fishing and TFO breakdown rods. I just may pull the trigger on that TFO after that review. Thanks again!

Re: I need a two piece spinning rod.

Thanks for the response Capt. Any experience with the TFO or 13Fishing travel rods? I think I recall you selling a 3 piece TFO rod a few months back, kinda wish I jumped on it now. I saw they offer some in light and medium light that look like what I'm looking for as well. Gonna take a look at thse ...

I need a two piece spinning rod.

I'm currently bound to public transportation here in Boston. I have my reels, and will have my rods shipped up here, but I'd like a 2 piece rod I can tote around and hit a few ponds after work. Anyone have recommendations on a good 2 piece rod? A 2500 FK with 10 lb 832 will be going on it, and I usu...

Re: best fishing line for saltwater

Before I got on the kayak I did a lot of pier and surf fishing. I had a 2500 Stradic, 10lb Sufix 832, 20lb flouro leader. It's a bass/trout rod but I used it as a bait rod. 4000 Stradic, 20lb Sufix 832, also 20lb leader. Usually 1oz weight and I'm drowning a baitfish or dunking cut bait. Penn 6500 S...

Boston, MA New England fishing?

So I left Tallahassee for jury duty and ended up in Boston, Massachusetts. During jury duty I got a call about a job interview up in Boston and booked a flight out Tampa. Long story short I accepted an offer, and I start the 12th. I won't be bringing the kayak with me. I'm not sure of the logistics ...
