Triple Tail

I’ve been catching tripletail on the crab balls out of St Marks. They seem to be numerous, but small. None of them have been keeper size so far. The new minimum size regulations went into effect last year - it went from 15 to 18 inches. Fun to catch

St George Island

Staying on the island for a few days this week. Anyone seen pompano here yet? I fished the beach for a few hours today. Had only one bite and it was a nice drum.

Re: Ochlockonee Bay, Alligator Point, and Bald Point 2018 Fi

I’ve spent some hours on the bars out of Bald Point. Reds, trout, flounder, black drum, shark, Spanish, jacks - it’s a productive area. There’s a population of monster black drum that are a blast to catch. You can see them tailing along the bars. The bars are full of blue crab - that’s drum candy. C...

Re: Snook in local water!?

I was reading on the Pensacola fishing forum earlier this year and there was a picture of a guy with a bone he caught in Eacambia Bay. Maybe they’re more plentiful than we think...

It's a sign!

My heart goes out to all those that suffered damage to their property from the recent storm. I was helping my neighbor clear away a tree that fell in his yard after the storm and snapped this picture of his boat. The tree missed it by inches. You can't see in the picture, but another tree fell in a ...

Re: Turkey Point Report, Sunday 9/4

I'm down at Alligator Point this weekend. Came down Friday after the storm. I usually kayak fish and put out at Bald Point. The beach access to the park is currently closed. There is bait in the water down here. Lots of birds taking advantage. The tarpon are usually thick around here, but I haven't ...

Re: Fished recently at Alligator Point?

I've been a couple of times this summer. I usually drive to Bald Point and fish the bars. Almost always catch something. I caught this bad boy a couple weeks ago at low tide on a live crab. I have spent hours chasing the tarpon cruising the beach at AP and have never even got a bite. Would love some...

Re: Where to surf or Pier fish at night

I've fished the pier at Mashes Sands at night - it's allowed. Bald Point State park has a small, but productive pier. They close at sundown, but one of the Rangers told me you can buy a night pass at the ranger station. There's not a ranger station at Bald Point, so I assume he was talking about the...

Captain Chris Gouras, Tidal Creek Charters - out of Panacea. Great guy. Took a charter with my 13 year old daughter earlier this month and had a blast. Highly recommend.

Re: Ochlockonee bay

I don't think I've ever fished at Bald Point without catching something. There's a fishing dock in the state park. If you've got a boat or a kayak the oyster bars at the mouth of the river hold reds, flounder, trout, Spanish mackerel, lady fish. I was out there this week and saw some massive black d...

Re: St George Island

You can try the cut at the west end of the island. Little St George is on the other side of the cut and the flats on the bay side can be good. There's also good tripletail action around St Vincent's island. Good luck

Baitfish around Alligator Point

I'm getting ready to go to Alligator Point for the week. Has anyone had any luck out there lately? Any ideas on good places to look for pinfish or other baitfish.

Re: Legal Trout

I fished the long bar out in front of the lighthouse last week. Caught a nice 25 inch trout free lining a live shrimp.
