Re: Request VHF marine radio recommendation
Thanks. It does have an inline fuse. So is it better to go directly to the battery?

Re: Request VHF marine radio recommendation
I connected it to an empty 30 amp fuse on the fuse block and and the other lead to a ground terminal.fishinfool wrote: April 21st, 2025, 8:10 am You might consider wiring it directly to the house battery. Of course you will want a fuse or circuit breaker for circuit protection. The radio's on/off switch should suffice.

Re: Request VHF marine radio recommendation
Thanks everyone. I ended up purchasing a Standard Horizon GX1410GPS. I have a good Shakespeare 4' whip antenna from a previous boat that's been laying around in my shed a few years. I bought the GX1410GPS mainly because it is compact and I have limited space on my bayboat. Now I have to figure out ...

Request VHF marine radio recommendation
I currently have an old Uniden Atlantis 250 that I use on my Cobia 174 bay boat. 99% of the time I fish the St Marks and Apalachee Bay. The other day I was grounded on an oyster bar. If you heard of that, yep, that was me. I was able to hear the Coast Guard on my radio, but they couldn't hear me ...

We all know why the cost of everything is going up. If I go on my rant here, I'll surely get kicked off this site. I'm gonna have to use my kayak more instead of my boat.

Personal fishing report 5 May 2022
First, let me say I'd like to see more fishing reports here. Wife and I went fishing at the oyster bars of the St Marks River, in the bay an on the flats yesterday. Windy, about 8-11 mph. Learned my lesson there. Only caught 2 maybe 6 inch trout and a blowfish (puffer). Water was kinda choppy. Used ...

Bought a used Hobie Revolution 13 a few months ago. Haven't used it yet, but plan to. Only places I 'm familiar with to put in is the Lighthouse and Wakulla beach. Going out in a boat tomorrow with my wife.

I don't care if Dick's Sporting Goods is giving stuff away for free. Dick's doesn't exist to me. Shop at American sporting goods stores. You know, the ones that believe in the U.S. Constitution and our freedoms.
