App National Forest pond

After about a year trying and many failed attempts, I finally found a way to reach (legally) a small pond well off the beaten path in the National Forest. First 6 cast yielded 5 bass. Only thing is they were all 10"-12". I figured there had to be some bigger fish I'd just have to find them...

Re: Video of Topwater Frog Hits

I bought a top water frog to try and fish the lily pads that almost all the ponds I fish are full of. Got quite a few strikes like that but never hooked one single fish. Finally gave it to my son to try. He had the same results.

Re: Panacea 8/27

Managed this 22" Red Friday evening in Panacea as well. Caught 2 more keeper size and released. All on bull minnows caught around one of the many oyster bars. All caught about 2 hours into incoming tide.

Anybody fish rock the dock tournament?

Might fish the kayak classic, haven't decided. Tons of boats (motor & kayaks) at Levy Bay Saturday, but it was slow for us.

Re: St. George Island bridge 4/9/16 report

If the catfish theory is confirmed, I'll gladly do my part to help thin them out! I usually have to cut my leader after they swallow it so deep I can't see the hook. I do release them but I will stop if they are causing problems.

Panacea 4-8,9,10-16

After at least a month of freshwater fishing, finally went back salt. Fished Friday afternoon after work. Got my first double on reds. Both 19 1/2" caught on frozen shrimp. Evan caught a couple of shorts/barely legal but released them. Went back Saturday mid morning and got blown around for a f...

Re: March 4th & 5th

Wow. I can't believe you know where we went just from a few pictures. We tried the pond up the hill yesterday afternoon and didn't catch anything. Kind of doubted any fish were in it. Sounds like there are. Extremely hard to fish with whatever the vegetation is (sorry I'm new to Fl). I've found 3 re...

March 4th & 5th

Found a new pond in the National Forest so we decided to try freshwater this weekend. Had no idea if any fish were in the pond or not. Didn't take long for my son to find out. Hooked this nice bass on a crank bait. [img] [IMG]http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm1/drail1071/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zp...

Re: Short Reds

Wow. I definitely didn't expect so many replies. Guess we're not the only ones having a rough February. As for the limit being 2 per day per person, I have yet to pull a double! I've tried but never seem to get that second one in the boat. My son has caught two several times but to his credit(Especi...

Short Reds

We fished one of our normal areas in Panacea this past Sunday. Both of us caught multiple reds, but all were shorts. Any particular reason for the abundance of shorts all of a sudden? Thanks.

Re: Keaton report? ?

Not a Keaton report, but I did go in Panace today. Only saw one other boat foolish enough to be on the water. Didn't seem that cold when I left the house, but it was 47 where I put in with a moderate wind. Tried in a creek, mouth of creek, flats, & shoreline. Nothing. Not even a ray or cat. Coul...

We had 16 bags of redfish (most had just one fish per quart bag) so we went to feed the the wife's family in Georgia Saturday. My brother in law got a R&V Works Cajun Fryer 4 gallon 2 basket fryer. Cooked fish, fries, and hush puppies for 15 people in one hour flat! That thing is awesome, gotta ...

Re: Aucilla 1-16

Although I'm just a kayak fisher, I'll second that Google earth is great for finding areas to fish. The last three "new" spots I've located using Google have all produced nice reds. Extremely useful tool in my opinion.
