Re: BigBendFishing.Net Social 2008 Sign Up

I won't not be there. I'll figure out something to bring, dunno what yet.

There is also ABC storage near the corner of Crawfordvilld Hwy and 98. Don't know if they have 24 hour access or not and sorry don't have the number. I'll grab the number in the morning and post it. (My dirt road is right next to it.) If you choose to keep it there, I'll keep an eye on it each morn...

Re: Dive suit?

:-D Whats is a good inexpensive 3mm full suit? Brand and style. 1 piece or 2 piece? :-D Thanks For a really comfortable and inexpensive wetsuit, look at a Bare Velocity. It's a one-piece and is made from a similar material to a Henderson Hyperstretch. Very comfortable, and pretty cheap too. I have ...

If you want the best fishing kayak then buy a Hobie Outback. It is in a category of its own- but you pay a price for performance. Yeah, that's the one I was looking at. I'm getting ready to downsize from a 21' boat, so price isn't terribly important. I just wanted to make sure it was worth it first...

A lot of the places around here send the reels they get to Rivers. Year before last I sent 4 old Penn offshore reels to them (via Advantage) for repair. Prices were very reasonable, and they fish like new. The reels were my grandfather's from when he was my age, and needed complete overhauls. Wil

Question about Hobie Mirage kayaks

I was looking at the pedal setup on those, and it looks awesome. Is it half as practical as it looks? I saw someone's earlier post about weeds up in the river, but aside from that are there any drawbacks? Second question: The one I saw that is rigged for fishing is something like $1500-1800. Are the...

I live just south of Crawfordville, and love it down here. The commute isn't so bad, as long as you avoid the 7-8am rush and the 5-6pm rush. In fact, it only increased my average drive by about 10 minutes when I moved down here, even though I added 20 miles onto it.

Jeez...double HP 120's??? Deep...cave diving? Yup. It's fun to swim carrying double 120s, an al80 stage, and an al30 O2 bottle. :-D Do yall purchase the lp 120's from a local shop down that way? No one carries them in stock around here....but will order them for $300/each. Too high? I usually frequ...

Nobody in this area is qualified for teaching drysuits. I'm going to have to disagree here. While a drysuit C-card is just about useless, it is invaluable to have an experienced drysuit diver alongside you to give you constructive criticism and other advice. The instructor Tom mentions is excellent...

Alright..... Talk to me about steel. HP or LP? size 80, 95, 120 and what are the benefits of steel over AL? I realize it's more durable....and rusting isn't really an issue. PM me on the price for your 80's....I may be down for the social and could pick them up then. Howdy guys, suddenly realized I...

Also, if you want to "try before you buy", let me know. As Tom said, definately try something at least a few times before you buy one, otherwise you'll find yourself in my situation. I own 2-3 of EVERYTHING, but I really only have one set of gear I find myself using on a regular basis. And...

BTW- Those "expensive" ones aren't much more than a cheap one. If you do decide that polespearing is your thing, you can get an awesome one for about $70. I wish I'd known that before I bought my 7' one, which set me back almost $40. That's ok, though, since I have plans to sacrifice my po...

Re: Re

I know I can get one that cheap, but I can do just fine with a used fiberglass one at maybe half the price. I'm thinking if someone turned in their old fiberglass one for one of those expensive top-of-the-line ones they may want to make a few bucks from it. This is something I'm just going to try o...

Yeah, you can get a 7' fiberglass one for well under $50 at Coral Reef. Don't waste your time with a shorter one. 7' minimum.
