Re: Adios

Thanks for the well wishes all. We picked up my skiff Monday after my wife got her second vaccine and it is now tucked mostly into its new boat barn. I have some modifications to do to it and will finish off the one end for a tackle room/man & dog cave. It will be so nice to have it at the house...

It been a long, fun run but it's time to head back home. Returning to my salt water roots in the Pensacola area as I shift into 3/4 retirement. Plan to fish more and work less from here on out. Looking forward to exploring some new waters and some I haven't fished in three decades. I've enjoyed bein...

Re: Crystal River? Need info

Check out the web sites for Captains William Toney and Dan Clymer. Both are natives, know their stuff and share great reports on the latest action. Very cool area. Don't stray from the channel, even in the river. Lots of gnarly rocks and they don't give.

Yes, bought our retirement home near Pensacola. Moving this week. Boat barn, close to the bay and sound, clear water. I'm really looking forward to it. The packing is over and but the unpacking is about to begin.

The fort ramp isn't free. City of St. Marks owns and maintains it. You can get an annual pass, but TANSTFL

Re: Good areas for a novice "captain"

Lots of areas in the Big Bend that don't require a shallow draft craft to enjoy. As others have mentioned, launching at Shields Marina or the fort ramp will put you in deep water regardless of tides. Stay in the channel and you can head out to the network of artificial reefs, natural bottom and even...
