Not using a gaff of course. My dad needs to work on his hand strength.

Re: Near shore carrabelle
Dang. Glad to hear I didn't have the gaff! I was reading in the regs and I was thinking it would have been fine to harvest him as long as he was 63+". But hey, the Lord is sovereign and knew I didn't need a gaff on board. Because I've almost bought one several times. I would have really liked a...

Near shore carrabelle
I know this technically doesn't belong here, but thought y'all would find it interesting. I have only fished inshore and wanted to try a few really close numbers a friend gave me out of carrabelle to try and put my 12 yo son on a red snapper. So we are fishing in roughly 40 ft on the bottom with fro...

St marks river
For all you boys who went out yesterday, how badly stained was the river? And does stain affect redfishing around oyster bars as much as the stain affects the trout bite? Thinking about trying it this afternoon just wandering if st marks is worth it.

Power pole tilt bracket
Do any of y'all have experience with putting a hydrilla gear tilt bracket on your power pole. I've got a ski tow bar on my boat but want a power pole and was wandering if the tilt bracket worked. Gotta get it outta the way when kids are skiing. I also see where hydrilla gear makes quick disconnects ...

St marks red
Finally! I caught my first st marks red. We ran out to the flats fri afternoon and caught some short trout and short bsb. Decided to run back to the fort to load the boat and fish some oyster bars on the way back in. First stop with a frozen shrimp on a jig head and this baby jumped on it. https://u...

St. Marks 5/27
Put in at the fort this am around 915. Didn't get in a big hurry driving down from alb since low was at 940'ish. Brought one of my sons friends and his dad along. Praying for some action since this was their first time in a long time in the salt. Tried for a red or two but no go. So headed out to th...

Re: Using pinfish
Yep. Got it. THanks. I know I saw h-n-m and blue spinner both make mention of using shiner tails. Just wanna add to the tackle box. I've tried floating whole pins under a cork with limited success. Just figured I was doing something wrong. Thanks guys!

Re: Using pinfish
Great info guys. Thanks. I was mainly thinking about targeting trout and reds. That "shiner tails" method is one Ive seen mentioned but couldnt figure out what that was. Thanks silverking! So are you making 2 separate baits outta that tail section. As if you were filleting the pinfish or i...

Using pinfish
I often see y'all post about using pinfish as bait. How do you prefer to fish with them? Whole under a cork; cut somehow; pinned to the bottom with a hunk of lead? I've seen y'all post pics about pinfish and have often seen a messy cutting board in the floor of the boat. Just trying to broaden my ho...

Yeah. Not interested in that kinda stress just yet. Decided to fish st. marks instead. Glad y'all gave me a heads up before I ran headlong into something half cocked!
