catching (and losing) trout on pinfish
I went out of St Marks yesterday for a quick morning fishing trip before work. No one had live shrimp, so I was casting artificials and using pinfish under a cork. A few bumps on the soft plastics, but I caught 2 good trout on the pins. I also had two other good trout on, and they seemed to be hooke...

Re: April 6 and 7th
Same for me on Sunday. I feel like I don't have a good strategy for picking spots to fish on the flats east of the lighthouse. I try to drift across different depths, and sometimes I wander into a school & sometimes I come up empty. Not asking for your spots, but anyone have a better strategy?

Where do the sheepshead go?
I always look forward to catching big sheepshead in March off the 24 Barge or other nearshore structure. Other times of year I catch them near oyster bars inshore. But that's a long trip to spawn. Are there spots they stop when staging or moving to or from the spawn? Seems like there should be some ...

Re: What does a red grouper pothole or Swiss cheese bottom look like?
Great report and great fotos. What would that Swiss cheese bottom look like on downscan or fishfinder?

Re: Last Day Regular Season ARS
I'm confused. I caught and kept an ARS that last weekend, but I threw 2 red grouper back. Didn't they close the red grouper season?

SeaTow has automated radio checks, I think channel 27 or 28 depending on location

Spring pattern
I didn't find 'em on the bars today, but I caught a trout on the flats. Water temp was 71 degrees. A buddy said he caught bluefish and Spanish Mackerel on the deeper flats. Made me think the March pattern had moved up to February, and sure enough I caught 2 big sheepshead on my favorite nearshore sp...

Re: I demand more fishing posts!
Well here's today's report for me. Super windy, super low tide, but the East River gave up a few nice ones. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230205/ce1a04797874e7cd24f2aaea6e42205d.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230205/9e3135534cdce6e57aeea99779af1088.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2...

Re: AT & T Vs. Verizon
I suppose there's no chance they'll ever put cell transmitters on the old Air Force Towers?

Re: Amberjack
Wow, thanks for the in-depth review! I think I'll need to catch a bunch of each before I'm confident ID'ing them

Re: Amberjack
I'm assuming this is just a small greater AJ (returned to water) since the dark stripe extends thru the eye to the snout?

Amberjack
Beautiful day, launched out of Carrabelle to calm seas. Didn't find the grouper, but had a blast catching half a dozen small AJs on Yamaha reef, around 25-32 inches each. Which led us to wish we could get a signal out there to Google how you tell the difference between a lesser and a greater amberja...
