Re: Carrabelle Offshore Question
Are you marking fish on your bottom machine? Snapper are pretty thick from 50’ on out. Personally, I like to chum them up and freeline chunks into the slick. You can also catch them bottom fishing when you are targeting grouper. You may need to go a little deeper (60-70+ feet) and watch your bottom ...

Carrabelle Offshore Question
I've spent 2 weekends in the last month fishing in Carrabelle. Out of the combined 6 days I've been there, I've only been able to get offshore twice (21' bay boat, so it has to be relatively calm). I've fished public, private, and new spots from 30ft to 55ft of water using squid, live pinfish, live ...

Re: Carrabelle Offshore Spots
A good deal of "new" hard bottom was uncovered by the hurricane and if you look around I'm sure you will find some. Much easier to see it while trolling for kings than while running. Remember too that a lot of the hard bottom is "honey comb" with out a lot of relief, just good rock with holes and ...

Re: Carrabelle Offshore Spots
I surely appreciate that! Looking for a couple state water bottom fishing spots for mid June. That being said, I'd be glad to let anyone that wanted to and had more knowledge than me jump in the boat the first week I'm down (before the wife and kids come down) probably June 8-13 or so. I'm in a 22 ...

Re: Carrabelle Offshore Spots
Yea, most of the numbers I have are in that direction. I'm just planning on running towards K-Tower and watching my bottom machine.StMarksAngler wrote:5+ miles offshore of Dog Island is a good place to start.

Carrabelle Offshore Spots
I'm thinking about taking the bay boat to Carrabelle a couple weekends in June and do some offshore fishing. I've already uploaded all the public numbers I could find into my Simrad. I'm hoping to catch snapper, grouper, AJs, and do some trolling for Kings. Can I expect to be successful fishing ...

What depth were you fishing? On the flats? In the creeks?

Re: Steinhatchee 11/3
Wind was blowing 10-15 most of the day. Water clarity was surprisingly good. Could see bottom in 5 foot of water. Water temp was 72.SoberAngler wrote:How was the wind? Water clarity? Water temp?

Steinhatchee 11/3
The trout bite was slooooooow today. The front that moved through yesterday must've really shut them down. Our cast to bite ratio was easily 50:1. Fortunately, the redfish didn't seem to mind the weather. We managed to catch 4 reds this morning (21", 22", 24", 24") on topwater near Rocky Point in 1 ...

Re: Steinhatchee 10/17
I fished out of Steinhatchee the 19th and 20th. The bite was on fire. We caught 30+ legal trout (most of which were thrown back), countless 14 inchers, big spanish, bluefish, ladyfish, and even a pompano. Fish were in 2.5-3.5 feet and were caught on live pinfish, down south paddletails, and Unfair ...

Re: October Fishing at Steinhatchee
I fished out of Steinhatchee last weekend, and will be back down that way in a couple weeks. The bite is starting to heat up. The early morning topwater bite was on fire this past weekend. Once the sun came up and the water heated up the bite shut down. We caught lots of schoolie trout (14"-16 ...

Re: Dumb Question about Sabiki Rigs
I typically go smaller, size 12. I prefer to spray the Sabiki with Gulp Shrimp Attractant rather than cutting pieces of Gulp to put on the hooks.
That’s a good idea, do you feel like it works as well? ( I guess you wouldn’t do it if you didn’t)
I've only used it the past three trips (after ...
