Re: Pin Fish out of Apalachicola
look for grass beds on google earth and that is where the pins will be. I use to catch them next to (bay side) little St. George when going out of west pass.

Re: Mangrove snapper
The deeper you go the bigger the bigger they get.
Regarding full moon night fishing. Keep in mind that's when the tide is moving the most. You will need to let out more anchor line than normal and use much more lead to get to the bottom.

Re: CCA Star Tourney: Finally passed 100 catches for the sum
Congrats of the many catch's Gary. I'm jealous about the amount of time you get to spend on the water (shore)! BTW are you sure they were "yellowtail" jacks? Could they have been small Jack Crevalle? Yellow Jacks, more commonly called Bar Jacks are a S. FL fish. They are supposed to be goo...

Re: Trolling for Kings
During the summer most of the kings are in the 30' plus area (south of the shoals). Troll around artificial reefs like OAR and K tower and also any schools of bait you see that look like fish are harassing them. If you see a lot of Spanish try putting on a stretch 25 or 30. A lot of times the Spanis...

Re: Most accurate weather forecast site
I too use windy.com for the sea conditions. I have heard they base it off ECMWF (European Model) which always seams to be the most accurate when predicting hurricane paths. I'm not real confident with there rain prediction on windy though. I want to see percentages by the hour so I can determine if ...

Most accurate weather forecast site
I'm getting real frustrated with each site saying something different so I did some research on the most accurate weather services this morning. This is what I found and thought I would share.https://www.forecastadvisor.com/Florida ... see/32310/

Re: Eleuthera, Bahamas
Really liking your reports. Please keep them coming! I've been down to Andros a couple times and caught a ton of those grouper you have pictured. We had always called them "Strawberry Grouper". Regarding the bonefish; I know it's a little late now but I ordered several hand tied jigs from ...

Re: First Cobia
Good job! Since this is your first I have a little advise on cleaning them. First wash off as much of the fish slim as you can before putting it on the cleaning table. Then treat it like a flounder where you fillet it into four pieces instead of two. It will make it a little easier to manage. Again,...
Re: Capsized
Careful. This plays into the commercial argument that the allowable harvest should be divided up into the entire population and each “personal quota” could be sold. So open recreational fishing would cease. If you wanted to go fishing and keep a fish you would have to buy a permit first. Of course ...
Re: Capsized
Not saying this is the case here but it's one of the reason I'd like to see fish tags being implemented instead of a short season. People tend to push the envelop on fishing when they only have a limited amount of time to catch fish. If we were given an allotted amount of tags that can be used at an...
Re: Capsized
Thankfully these guys were close by. only God knows what would've happened if they weren't. the article also points out that CG didn't dispatch this over? IF this had gone the other way, would the CG be at fault? to me, this is almost like a neighbor calling the fire depot because your house is on ...

Re: Carp?
Thanks fellas but finding them was never the issue. It was figuring out what fly they would eat because everyone I've tried didn't work. Just curious if others have had any luck and if so what patterns worked best. In other parts of the country they use small freshwater shrimp and crawfish patters. ...

Carp?
Any of you ever target Carp around hear? I spent some time trying to catch them years ago while living in Killearn Lakes. Lake Monkey Business had a ton of them but could never hook any on fly. After watching a few videos on YT recently I was thinking about giving them another shot. If so what patte...

Re: Wakulla Beach??
Wakulla beach was always better in the spring and fall. The water in that basin gets pretty hot during the summer. You can still catch fish but much better when the weather cools a little. It's pretty much only the negative tides you have to worry about over their regarding having to drag your boat....
