Re: New to saltwater fishing
Go find 6-7 foot with grassy bottom and drift bouncing jigs off the bottom. Drag a pinfish or cut bait behind the boat under a cork. You'll catch something

Re: Carrabelle pin fish
Sabiki rig with hooks tipped by smallest pieces of gulp you can fit on them fished in 4' to 8' waters with grass. This or carry a break buster with a small hook and tip it with gulp, shrimp, squid, cooked hotdog or whatever else you have should work. Set the cork to put your bait just above the gras...

Re: Econfina tomorrow
Got a late start. On the water about 3:30 fished till 7:30. One 18 inch keeper a few shorts, bsb and cats. Had something big on cut bait out the back of the boat but came unbuttoned. Ate oysters and shrimp at Deals. Spending the night in Perry will try again tomorrow . The afternoon bite has not be...

Re: Aucilla 12/26
I was looking at the info on those Solo Skiffs, and noticed that they can't be swamped. Supposedly the water runs out the back of the skiff. It has no transom in the usual sense. Nice concept, but I don't know if I could tolerate reaching back to steer with the tiller. Maybe with a tiller extension...

It's been terrible all spring. Until the last week or so. I had almost forgot what it was like to fish a nice slow drift.DixieReb wrote:The wind was unreal the last 2 times I fished. Not easy for drift fishing or running a boat.

Probably would have been a lot more successful if I knew how long he was going to hang on the boat. Just have had a bunch swim up give the boat a look and swim away.

Yeah it was a productive day outside of that. We had a good time.xXLoneBowmanXx wrote:Haha! That is a great story. I was hoping for a happier ending for you, but that's how it goes sometimes. At least you got some excitement out of it.

Lost a rod and reel today
If anyone sees a rod and reel being towed by a big bluefish its mine. My wife and I were fishing today, well I fished and she stretched out and listened to the radio. I was working the edge of this huge sandy trough that was holding a bunch of fish, pretty much all the fish you catch this time of ye...

Didn't someone contact Sen Boyd about this a while back? Anyway if I remember right it was a no go because the ramp is not used commercially among other things.

Re: Sibiki Rig St Marks
Ive tried cast net and sabikis but the best way I've found is with a cane pole (what you southerners call a "bream buster" ). Hit the grass flats pretty much anywhere and you will fill your live well in 20 minutes or less. Tip the hook with gulp and the little buggers won't be able...

Re: Cast net recommendations
It depends on what you want to net. Bait? Mullet? And how deep of water you intend to use it. If you just want to learn, a 6' bait net would be a good start. And nets are like anything else, you can spend a little or a lot. Good luck Thank you! I definitely want to catch bait AND mullet... mullet d...

Re: Weekend Weather
It was fine until I got to the light house. Got into some 3 footers and it wasn't that fun of a ride! Stayed in the backwaters on the river but never got a bite. There were a lot of boats headed out past the light house including boats smaller than mine (19' bay boat). They must have known somethin...

I was out there with you. Despite the wind and my father-in-law stumbling and falling all over my boat we still caught some fish, until I had to get him off the water before he hurt him self. I learned yesterday that he doesn't get the invite unless seas are calm.
