Boomhauer, I know no one who is better at identifying fish than you. I had never heard of a bulldozer lobster before your comment, but I looked them up, and I think you are correct in your determination.

Re: Catching Red Grouper Again on March 22, 2025--Carrabelle

Striking how little structure there is in those fotos. Just some scattered rocks. How do you find those spots with fish from all the other spots that have just scattered rocks 30-40 miles south?

A lot of trial and error is involved. I stare at the sonar as we run with the machine zoomed-in to ...

Catching Red Grouper Again on March 22, 2025--Carrabelle

shakenbake wrote: March 29th, 2025, 9:35 pm Great report and nice catch! Hope to get out there to hunt some new numbers in preparation for RS season once the wind lays down.
Thanks, Shakenbake. Finding red snapper in June should be easy, but it will get more difficult when the water gets hot. Good luck.

Catching Red Grouper Again on March 22, 2025--Carrabelle

“Let’s go deep.” That was the plan for Saturday, March 22, 2025, for offshore fishing out of Carrabelle. Everyone was anxious to try to fill the cooler with red grouper. I had more on the line. I had to redeem myself for the last trip in early March when the only fish we brought home was a 13” lane ...

Re: Guide for 11 near Panacea?

If you want a guide for inshore fishing, try Shell Island Fish Camp in St. Marks. The guides might still use pontoon boats for trips on the flats, but 11 on 1 boat is a lot of people.

I also like Captain Mike McNamara in St. Marks for inshore fishing. I think he has several boats. He used to have ...

Re: Great Day on the Water with Friends, Carrabelle, March 1, 2025

Seem to be small
Red grouper everywhere…. That’s good and bad….

I just realized that the 20 fathom rule is in effect until the end of March. That rule prohibits fishing for grouper in water deeper than roughly 120 feet to protect grouper that are breeding. Perhaps my fishing results were due to ...

Great Day on the Water with Friends, Carrabelle, March 1, 2025

Saturday, March 1, was one of the rare early spring days with light winds, calm seas, good tidal movement, and an excellent fishing forecast on Tides4Fishing and the Farmer’s Almanac. I should have known that fishing was going to be horrible. Nonetheless, we were certain that we were going to limit ...

Foggy Fishing Friday in Pursuit of Red Grouper--Carrabelle, Feb. 8, 2025

Honk, Honk, Honk. If you heard this sound on Friday, February 8, it might have been my boat enveloped in fog as we pursued red grouper out of Carrabelle. Most of the time, we traveled under low clouds on calm, glassy seas. When we encountered fog, we went slowly and honked the horn or stopped and ...

Re: Looking for info blue wave 26 or 28 hybrid

I think it’s fantastic that you still get to fish with your 80-year-old mother.

You’ve probably visited the website already, but if you haven’t, the hulltruth.com is a great website for information on different boats.
