Help--Livewell Pump Keeps Failing/Electrical Issue?

Well, I thought addressing the livewell pump would be complicated. Fortunately, I got lucky. I removed the pump from its housing and saw that it was clogged by a little bit of braided fishing line. I cleared away the braid, reset the breaker, and all was well. I also put a little dielectric grease ...

I think my boat has a busbar. I'll check it carefully. Thank you for the tip.

Re: Help--Livewell Pump Keeps Failing/Electrical Issue?

salt water environment is murder on wiring get a VOM (volt ohm meter) and check continuity make sure you dont have a high open and dielectric grease on all connections helps greatly. It kinda sounds like it might be starving for voltage....good start

I am grateful for the tip. I am just about ...

Help--Livewell Pump Keeps Failing/Electrical Issue?

I've replaced the livewell pump on my boat multiple times. Recently, I was about replace the pump again, but it turned out that there was something wrong with the Deutsch plugs that connect the pump to power. One of the prongs in the mail plug broke off into the female plug and there was black stuff ...

Nearly done in by bananas on the boat

Carrabelle--On Friday May 29, 2026, I went offshore fishing with a group of friends including a guy who always insists on bringing bananas on the boat. When he brings bananas, you never know how things will turn out.

Anyway, after launching the boat into the Carrabelle River, we headed to the ...

More Than Enough Fish

Carrabelle--On Saturday, I felt like I had to prove I was a competent fisherman. A trip on Thursday humbled me. On a day that the fishing forecast predicted lots of activity, the bite was slow and the keepers were few and on the smaller side.

Saturday's plan was going to be different beginning ...

A Friend Took Me Fishing and HOGGED All the Fish

On Friday, a friend texted me, “Do you want to go inshore fishing tomorrow out of St. Marks.” I eagerly said, “Yes.” I had been wanting to fish offshore in my boat, but the winds had been whipping up 3 to 5 foot seas for the last 2 weeks. Not my kind of fishing conditions. The next day, I mostly sat ...

Re: Limited-Out on Red Grouper in Carrabelle on March 21, 2026

Braining is interesting concept….
When we spearfish, its great to hit the brain or spine, fish doesnt go nuts and draw in sharks…..
The trade off is the fillets wonts ever firm up , even on good ice…
Cleaning a fish that has been stone is like filleting a bag of worms…
Oh well better than losing ...

Thanks for the report. Those are some quality red grouper.

Along those lines, every fish, except one that I screwed up, went through the full ikejime process to ensure the flesh is of the highest quality. Yes, most of my fishing buddies think I’m nuts until they see the process, taste the fish ...

Re: Limited-Out on Red Grouper in Carrabelle on March 21, 2026

A good time, except for the fuel bill, I see we should have ran out to 90ft to find the fire trucks.

Yes, we burned a lot of gas and the fuel bill was more painful than normal.

Anyway, according to my fishy math/economics, we did great. I like to think that each one of those red grouper ...
