Re: Apalachicola Fishing Report for April 15 with Deep Water Pictures
Awesome report and one stud of a gag! Also nice snapper. Sucks the camera is done for. Those are some killer shots; you have motivated me to order a case and send it down. How are you securing the camera to get balanced shots. Are you placing the camera on videos mode and just letting it do its thi...

Apalachicola Fishing Report for April 15 with Deep Water Pictures
Now that we’re in April, the 20 fathom rule is no longer in effect. That means it could be worthwhile to fish out of Apalachicola because we can keep some species of grouper caught in waters deeper than 120.’ Also, a friend gifted me an old GoPro Hero 3+ camera that I was eager to try in deep water ...

Re: What does a red grouper pothole or Swiss cheese bottom look like?
Great report and great fotos. What would that Swiss cheese bottom look like on downscan or fishfinder? On the sonar, you don’t see any depth changes, but you do see some evidence of fish. It could be big fish. It could be small fish there’s just not enough there to know for sure. It’s my understand...

Fishing Landward of the 20 Fathom Line on March 30 with Underwater Pictures
Early on Saturday morning, we picked up the boat from Martin Marine in Carrabelle. Fortunately, all my trailer lights worked after a tip from Martin that saved me hours of tracking down the electrical problem. (On my own, I had tried fixing the problem with the lights by using contact cleaner, diele...

Re: This forum is dead
Yes, people who go fishing should take a few moments to tell us how they did. a couple pictures along with the post really helps as well. By the way, I went offshore fishing on Saturday and caught fish. I will post more about it, including pictures from above and below the waterline, this afternoon.

Re: Carrabelle Offshore On March 20
When we spear a fish in the brain or spine, the fish gets floppy ….. interestingly, it never firms up, even when iced… makes it harder to clean… I’ve tried to read as much as I can about the ike jime process and why and how it is supposed to improve the taste and texture of fish. The floppiness of ...

Carrabelle Offshore On March 20
I went offshore fishing yesterday out of Carrabelle with three goals--put my friends on red grouper, figure out how to use my new ike jime tools, and take underwater videos. We accomplished the first goal. My friends put a few nice red grouper in the cooler and we released a few large red snapper, t...

Great analysis.
Please see if you can forward your analysis to FWC staff or their elected superiors who might care more than FWC staff.

Re: This ain’t good..
I spoke with my friend who attends these meetings. He said the Fed's are recalculating and reassessing their catch data as it is obviously flawed on the recreational side. The commercial side is within their catch quota and won't be affected. So.....what that means to the 2024 season......to be det...

Re: This ain’t good..
It’s not surprising. The regulators have a habit underestimating fish in the water and overestimating fish catch rates.

Thanks for the tip.boomhauer wrote:For better size and numbers of sea bass, there can’t be any big gags around…. Or really any gag grouper.
We dive and see it over and over…. Look for hard bottom areas with no more than 1 ft relief

That’s a very gaudy pile of fish. Great report.
