Re: dunking reels?
I do mostly surf or inshore wade fishing and I hose mine off pretty liberally. I don't use reel magic or salt-away or any of that stuff. My main inshore combo has a Shimano Nasci 2500 on it which I have had for 3 years already. I've dropped it in saltwater or sand many times. On those occasions I ri...

SK - Just wondering, when did that park re-open? The last time I drove by there was a couple months ago but I remember it being fenced off.

Re: Scalloping......
MS closed their beaches due to the presence of blue-green algae. I get a little skeeved out about the flesh eating bacteria news but I take some comfort in the experts saying only the immuno-compromised are truly at risk. Unfortunately, with healing surgical wounds you would be among those at risk a...

I'm intrigued. I like Uni and I've wondered how the urchins around here would compare to what you get in a sushi restaurant. How big would an urchin have to be to be worth harvesting?

Re: East End - St George Island
On second thought... just checked the tides and they are not moving much. H 2.34 at 5am, L 1.64 at 9:38, H 2.79 at 3:11pm. May save the effort for a different day. I can always go see because I have caught fish under these conditions, but man, I've also had some really crummy days too. Would anyone ...

Re: East End - St George Island
Thanks for all the feedback! Good to know I can run my typical surf routine and I am excited to hear about the flats on the bayside. I was looking at the map of that area the other day and thought there would be some good wading out there. I'm going to try and get out there this Saturday, I love whe...

East End - St George Island
Thinking about giving the East End of the St. George Island State Park a shot one weekend soon. I have a question about weights. Will the 2-4oz spider weights I typically use for surf fishing work well for this area? Just wondering if the currents at the east end will be stronger than off the beachf...

Well that's probably a good thing. We need to free up some of our workforce to mine coal... I hear that's coming back bigly.

Re: Soft plastics?
I have mostly switched to Zman paddletails on weedless, weighted worm hooks. I also like the Down South 5in paddle tails in Chicken of the Sea. However, Winter/early spring fishing is all about Corkys (Paul Brown Lures) IMO.

Re: Slack Tide Fishing
just my uninformed opinion but fishing up through last weekend was pretty good in the creeks and we just had some cold weather move through this week. I've had good outcomes fishing 'small' water under similar conditions. In addition to what has already been said I would suggest finding some creeks/...
