Re: Carrabelle Fishing Tips

All of the public reefs, K-Towers, DZ Reefs, will provide fish on the bottom.

Re: Avoiding Amberjack

Usually AJ's are mid to high in the water column. Put a heavy weight ( 8oz ) and get your bait to the bottom quickly.

Crystal River? Need info

Dragging the boat from NC down to Crystal River in a few weeks, we've rented a house with a dock for a week.
Any tips and tricks for inshore and maybe nearshore for the area? Any worries about navigation?

All info is good info!

Re: Inshore: Bahamas

We rent-

We looked at quite a few places for sale this past trip, but the prices were quite optimistic. We're likely to build something in the future, and that way we'll be confident in it's ability to withstand storms. Deltec has a nice kit that is very energy efficient, and very storm-resistant.

Inshore: Bahamas

Since it's a chilly February ( everywhere ) I thought I'd share a few photos from a trip to the Bahamas from December. As usual, we visited the island of Eleuthera, located in the Central Bahamas, and about 70nm east of Nassau. With the exception of one day, all of the fishing was from the shore, wh...

Re: Amber Jack

Live bait for sure, although they will hit big swimbaits as well. I've used the "Billfish" series of Eagle hooks which are strong, in a 7/0 size. Rig your bait, and either flat line it or a small sinker to get it down, and hold on. Make sure you're using at least 65# line, and get prepared...
