Re: Can power pins on fishfinder be repaired?
Thanks to all. It sounds like this won't be a quick fix. I may have to reallocate funds and consider buying a new unit. I see that Lowrance has a new line called Hook2 that is lower in price than the Elites. Maybe it has the features I would use most.

Can power pins on fishfinder be repaired?
The pins on the back of my Lowrance Elite 5 appparently have gotten bent and won't mate with the plug from the transducer and battery. I've tried straightening them with no luck. I called Lowrance and was told the unit can't be opened for repairs because it would no longer be water-tight. Does that ...

Re: Good brightness level for boat lift light?
It does help, Blue spinner. Thank you. I've decided on one with 4750 lumens, which sounds about right. Better a little too bright than not quite bright enough. And it sounds like it's about the same brightness as neighbors have on their docks.

Re: Good brightness level for boat lift light?
Thanks, tailwaters. We're looking at one with LED, which I understand is brighter and whiter than the older yellowish lights. Maybe it will attract a trout or two, or help us spot a flounder.

Good brightness level for boat lift light?
Can anyone recommend a just-right brightness level for a dawn-to-dusk security light on a boat lift? I've seen lumens levels ranging from 3,000 to 4,750. I want to discourage ne'er-do-wells, but I don't want to blind everyone on the bayou.

Re: Fuel injector service/recalibration
This is good info, rockyg and Salty Gator. Suzuki's specs say wide open throttle should be 5000-6000 rpm. When I hit 6,000, it sometimes showed up as an over-rev on diagnostics. But a prop change supposedly took care of that. It sounds like I need to try pushing it to 6000 again next time I'm out. M...

This is good info, rockyg and Salty Gator. I've always thought of top speed/full throttle as 6000 rpm for the Suzuki. When I hit that, it sometimes shows up as an over-rev on diagnostics. But a prop change seemed to take care of that. I need to try to hit it again. I think I could if I was running f...

Re: Fuel injector service/recalibration
That sounds good, Salty Gator. I pushed my Suzuki up to 5,500 rpm/33 mph yesterday, which was plenty fast for me. I’m glad your motor is feeling friskier too.

Re: Fuel injector service/recalibration
My mechanic recommends Stabil Marine 360. I've used other additives before, but this problem seemed to call for more than cleaning. We'll see, I reckon.

Re: Fuel injector service/recalibration
Update: I got the Suzuki back after the injector service, and it's running like new. They found one injector was flooding and two were running too lean. I'm still not sure I understand recalibration, but I'm good for now. We'll see how long it lasts. For anyone curious, the company is in Apex, N.C.:...

Re: Fuel injector service/recalibration
You got me to wondering, fishinfool. My friend Google took me to several sites on recalibrating injectors. As usual, opinions are plentiful and expertise is impossible to judge. It sounds like calibration involves timing and amount of fuel flow for each injector. You've given me good information, wh...

Re: Fuel injector service/recalibration
I was quoted $25 each for cleaning, plus $30 each for recalibration if needed, plus labor to reinstall them. That's worth it if it works. I'll wonder, too, if that could have been the problem all along. That would really have saved a lot of coin.

Fuel injector service/recalibration
(See the update below. The cleaning and recalibration worked, at least for now). Anyone familiar with having fuel injectors cleaned, serviced and recalibrated? A new mechanic says they could be the problem with my Suzuki DF115. It won't go above 3500-4000 rpm, yet again. I wasn't familiar with reca...

Re: What else can I do to avoid fuel problems and repairs?
Thanks, UFBeef. I see you're a Suzuki guy too. This is my second DF115, and I had pretty good luck with it until this recent bad behavior. I'll check out tank cleaning. I know it has been drained at least once, but I'm not sure what else was done.
