Re: Spinning Reel Combo (Trout)
Silverking your a wealth of information. Never realized the endless variations of a fishing pole. I've always just grabbed a spinning combo and went fishing. What you said makes sense to me. Guess I'm going shopping. Thanks for the input.

Spinning Reel Combo (Trout)
Guys I have been using the spinning reel combos from Academy catching them on sale for $29.99. Pretty darn sure its for fresh water since that's all they offer in the stores in my area. I have been averaging a broken reel per trip lately. Two of them broke where the reel mounts to the pole (Plastic ...

St Marks 10/06
We were on the water at day break. Found us a little spot a few miles past the bird rack, put the trolling motor on anchor lock and started fishing. We caught a handful of fish before the wife that was on the front of the boat yelled, as I looked in her direction I seen the trolling motor go ...

St Marks 5/19
We hit the water around 8:00am. Decided to try the flats and drift. We found fish in 4' of water and the morning bite was pretty good. Landed 10 keeper trout, 3 Spanish Mackerel and 7 sharks. Big trout was 22" and big Spanish was 24". We caught a ton of short trout.

Re: Navonics
take a 160 degree heading from the bird rack at st marks and run till you are in 35' of water. start trolling stretch 30's east and west along that depth contour watching your bottom machine for rock piles. when you get a hit mark the spot. when you see a good rock pile stop and drop some live ...

Thanks salty gator

Curious to know if anyone has purchased the navonics gps card and the thoughts about it. I have put a few nearshore gps numbers in my machine and had limited success grouper fishing. Usually fishing with multiple boats on the spots. We fish out of the st Marks area roughly 4-6 times per year.

Fishdawg wrote:I just upgraded to the 22' Sea Chaser. I really like this boat, and I do have a jack plate. The main thing about the Econfina is watch out for the rocks that are marker. They are marked for a reason. Tight lines and be safe!

Re: St. Marks 4/21
We had a fantastic time Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon. Took my wife and mom for the weekend and we were not disappointed. Looked at my chart map and decided to try the flats west of the st Marks light house. We drifted in 3-5 feet with live shrimp under a cracking cork picking up several ...

Re: Econfina April 13th.
I have a 22' Sea Chaser with a 150 Yamaha. We go out of Econfina all of the time. I will admit it scared me to death the first time I saw a very low tide at Econfina. It's really not that bad if you don't go out on low tide. Just give the river some time to rise and you will be just fine.

Re: Econfina April 13th.
Thanks guys, we’re going to check it out Friday afternoon after I find a bait store that has live shrimp. Looking forward to spending some time on the flats Friday afternoon for some trout and Saturday morning hitting a reef or two for a grouper with cut bait.

Re: Econfina April 13th.
Thanks guys, I will try and hook up with someone at the resort and follow them out. I’ll be in a sea foam color sea chaser with a t-top if anyone on here wants to say hello. Looking forward to the weekend.

Re: Econfina April 13th.
I’m somewhat new to the flats/bay fishing. We have Stayed at shell island fish camp in the past. The weekend of 4/21 we are staying at Econfina resort. Can I get a 21’ Sea chaser boat into the bay from that resort or would it be better to trailer it over to the public ramp in St. Marks? Have read ...
