Re: Hickory Mound 1/8

Thank you Silver King. I agree I’ve been a few times and seems very fishy. Will do my best to clean up trash myself next few times I visit. Just wondering if you know who owns/manages the land?

Hickory Mound 1/8

Went to Hickory Mound this afternoon with my girlfriend. Wind wasn't our friend but it was certainly interesting to see dead low tide on the bay side of the area, and the inside completely full of water. I caught a 28'' red on an artificial shrimp and my girlfriend stuck a nice 22 or 23 incher on li...

Mainly around the islands, however we went up to a few spots towards the preachers hole area but not quite that far and did very well.

Cedar Key Labor Day Weekend Report

Good day everyone, I met my father in Cedar Key for the weekend to try to fish a new unfamiliar part of the coast. He is based in Fort Myers and figured it was a decent halfway and an interesting place to see how the fishery is between North and South. We did very well on reds after the initial half...

Ever dealt with large # of rays on a flat?

Happy hump day everyone. Does anyone else find when you are fishing/wading a flat and there is a large # of rays that other fish tend to avoid the area? Just a theory I have made after several recent wading trips and it seems the presence of a large number of sting rays reduces the redfish action. C...

Re: St James 8/28

Nice fish. You are lucky to have acess to a dock that holds fish. That is not always the case. I would strongly recomend you make sure not to post a picture that allows others to identify that particular dock or you might (will) have unwanted competition for your pet redfish. Thank you for the advi...

Re: Panacea

Sorry for the late reply, hopefully you have caught some jacks by now. Not a fly guy and sounds cliche but I typically find jacks with the birds. Typically normally catch them when they are schooled up and they're crushing on bait,

All fish were between 17 and the largest one was 27 or so. Looking forward to a 30 incher!

St James 8/28

Good Sunday everyone, I had good success with the redfish on the 28th. Wind was howling from the southwest and I fished most of an outgoing tide while I caught some pinfish on the dead high tide. Caught 6 or 7 reds on a combination of live pinfish, and cut ladyfish. Also caught an undersized black d...

Re: St James 8/23

awesome! pier? working shorelines while wading? Congrats on a stellar day! Get those topwaters out there - cooler weather and surface temps make those fish go crazy! Little of both. Stuck most of reds at a private pier, but also spent part of the low tide targeting the shorelines. Good to know, wil...
