Re: February bass locations

I would second Farm 13/Stick Marsh. Also right next to it is Headwaters Lake, a newer area with lots of large bass.

Re: Redfish live bait

You’ve perfectly described that, potato chip of the sea, just a snack! Thanks for the info, my afternoon project will be figuring out a bait storage situation on my kayak.

Redfish live bait

I’ve only used lures for so long that I’ve forgotten how to use live bait! What is everyone using to target redfish? A long time ago a bait store recommended mud minnows, I didn’t have any luck. Shrimp just seems to get a lout of trout/cats/bait fish for me.

Kayak fishing locations

Looking for a new spot this weekend, I’ve fished plenty at the lighthouse, does anyone have a suggestion/opinion for a creek/location from Spring Warrior to St Marks? Thinking of trying out Big Spring Creek, looks fishy. Always looking for a nice remote launch I haven’t heard of, don’t mind putting ...

Re: East River

That is not one of the places I would put in at low tide, especially if it is forecasted to be a more extreme tide. If you put in at the spillway using the small trail that leads to the water, you will not be able to get to the water, it’s just knee deep muck and rocks. If you have the time and the ...

Re: East River

There is a concrete embankment 100 yards or less from the parking area, at the embankment is a small trail down to the river. I wheel my kayak there all the time, but as others have said, be prepared for serious mud and oysters if it is low tide; like not being able to get out of the water mud and r...

Re: Lake Lafayette and Lake Jackson

I went all the way to Cypress Pond, where it typically is pretty wide open, but not now. Lots of water, if you put your paddle through the vegetation it was plenty deep, just overgrown. Disappointing from a fishing perspective, but I’m sure the natural seasonal cycles will open it back up sooner or ...

Re: Lake Lafayette and Lake Jackson

I put in at Road To The Lake ramp tonight, it’s horribly overgrown. There is literally no where to fish, paddled over vegetation the entire time. I lost count of how many gators I saw once I put my head lamp on coming back, they’re always around, but still. Guess I’m just trying to warn anyone who i...

Re: donating rods/reels

I know Bass Pro has a yearly spring event where they take old rods and reels, restore and donate them to kids, and give you a coupon towards the purchase of a new rod/reel. Otherwise maybe contact FWC, they may have a program.

Re: Did anyone go

I went yesterday evening, minimal seagrass, about 20 minutes of action and then...nothing. Caught 26”ish red and a nice keeper trout. Catch and release
