Re: Hickory Mound 1/8

This is one of my favorite places to go and I agree with the trash issue. I always pick up as much trash as I can when I am there. My 3 year old grandson also loves it and asks every day to go there. We have one rule for him though, he must pick up a bag full of garbage before he is allowed to fish ...

Re: St. Marks River

We were out Sunday also. We found trout holding under a school of ladyfish and could have stayed and caught quite a few. We opted to run offshore because of the fog and the other 5 or so boats fishing the same school. We ended up with a cooler full of rock bass and a couple nice trout.

Re: Weird Fishing Technique that Works

I've read about this before but they boiled the noodles in crab boil which didn't make sense because it isn't a natural taste. Did you use regular water or season them with something? I bet fish oil would work pretty good.

Re: St Marks weekend -- tough fishing

We went to the West flats Saturday and Sunday with a boatload of kids. Throwing gulp and jigs produced a few small trout and a couple keepers. Despite the wind, I threw a topwater and had some really nice trout blow up on it but they weren't aggressive at all. Total tally for the weekend, 5 trout an...

Re: Econfina River rental Sept 26 + 27

You could try to call Dewayne @ Rip A Lip charters down there. He has a camper that he lets his fishermen stay in. If its available he may rent it to you.

Re: Trailer Weight

I got mine weighed at the landfill on the parkway. I think Marpan is the closest you will find to St Marks.

Weather permitting, I think it will be a good year. We have been seeing them on the flats for weeks now. Not big ones or tons of them but they are making their way here.

Re: Tips for Cobia Fishing (New to Big Bend Area)

You nailed it with the whole anchor and chum on structure. However, you will have a problem keeping the non desirable fish off of a live shrimp. Take a few minutes on the flats and catch a few live pinfish for bait. In my opinion free lining is the way to go and if the cobia are there it wont take ...

You can eat them for sure. They have a really good taste to them and not bad to clean. You have to be careful not to go through the ribs into the stomach cavity which is how I usually fillet anyway.

Spoke with Jimmy at Shell Island yesterday. He said they have plenty of business and the only way he would shut down is if they were forced to.

Re: Flats reports???

We fished East for the last few days. Trout limits shouldnt be tough. We caught a few on topwater too despite the winds. All on artificial and lost several jig heads due to spanish and blues.
