Re: Keys Question
I am no expert but I have been to the Keys a few times. For flats/backwater you want to charter out of Key Largo or maybe Islamorada. Blue water/reef Islamorada, Marathon or Key West. I personally like Marathon for its central location and proximity to the seven mile bridge plus the lack of freaks ...

Re: Running From Mouth of St Marks River to Aucilla River flats
Late to the discussion but I made that run twice in November in a 22' Sportsman with no issues. Pretty much stayed along the 8'-12' line on the Garmin. Trout fishing was good that week in the Aucilla flats.

Re: New St. Croix Legend Ultra 6-Wt Fly Rod--FS
Not in the market for a fly rod but it looks like a good one. I have a 7' medium heavy St.Croix Mojo and it is probably my favorite flats rod. Personally I am a fan of St.Croix although I know it is just a matter of preference.

Re: Aucilla fishing trip 1/7-8
Man I had rather spend that time with those two gentlemen than catch two limits by myself. There are still some things that can't be bought. I have lost a few fishing/hunting buddy's and a brother over the years and I miss them like crazy sometimes. When I get sad I think about some crazy/stupid ...

Re: Airboats in the St. Marks Refuge.
No dog in the fight. I have ran across a few airboats and heard a lot of them. If they are legal, on legal waters they have as much right to be there as anyone else. Personally I think they are loud and annoying and made for swamps/marshes not deeper waters. I wish they would stay in the bushes but ...

Re: Stmarks and steinhatchee 10/22-23: Into the murk
Me and my old time fishing buddy finally made it to the flats 10/21 and 10/22. Put in at Old Fort ramp, stayed at SIFC overnight Weds.- Friday. Thursday ran East toward the Gray Mare, slow bite but picked up a bunch of shorts along three or four different drifts. Picked up one 15.5" in 3'-5' using ...

It is a long story and a tribute to my deceased brother. We call my boat the "PFV Whoopass".

Re: Trolling Motor Power issue
I may be misunderstanding but did you say you plugged the unit into a receptacle using a drop cord at home? I may just be misinterpreting but the motor should be 24 vdc and the outlet is 120 vac. If you did this you probably have toast for windings. If not switches, fuses and corrosion are the ...

Re: Good areas for a novice "captain"
I have been fishing the St.Marks area for years. Most of that time was either with a guide or rental boat. My point being I am not an expert at navigating the area either. I put in at the fort ramp in November and there were no issues at all. Got in the channel and headed towards the lighthouse. The ...

Re: North Ga Brown Trout
Minnows, worms, rooster tails, corn, power bait (sort of an artificial salmon egg), salmon eggs. Be aware some streams are artificial only. The larger streams and rivers hold the browns. Chattahoochee and Toccoa rivers as well as Lake Burton are the best bet for browns or other trout. An occasional ...
