Re: Bait shop Carrabelle?
C-Quarters in Carrabelle.
Better prices at Rocky's Gas station. If you are coming down from Moultrie, you'll pass right by it on Hwy 98 and Hwy 319. Big Gas station, good prices on Marine Fuel, better stocked for fishing gear than BPS in Tallahassee.

Re: Who sells Cigar Minnows between Tally and Mexico Beach?
Thanks, yes I will stop and get them from Rocky's when going to Carabelle but going that way or through Eastpoint adds another 30 minutes to the 2 hour+ drive down. Usually I go to the exit past Quincy, then down to Greensboro, Bristol, Blountstown, then Wewahitchka. From Wewahitchka, PSJ is not too ...

Who sells Cigar Minnows between Tally and Mexico Beach?
The Mrs and I have been driving down to MB a few times recently for fishing and my stock of frozen Cigar Minnows is running low. Does anyone know who might stock frozen cigar minnows or frozen bait between Tallahassee and MB? I don't mind going through PSJ first on our way. Its a challenge to ...

Re: First Time Fishing Low Tide in Winter - Learning Occurred
Dragging it up this to the parking lot has me thinking real hard about something like a Crescent Lite-tackle or just getting a gheenoe and calling it good.

I was curious about the Crescent Lite-tackle kayak so I used my GoogleFu. That thing still weighs ...

Re: East River Spillway
I don't have an answer, as I haven't fished that spot but Reds and Trout can be caught in other creeks in the refuge. I'd suggest hiking some of the creeks and berms further downstream.

Re: Dumb question-how to fish a gold spoon?
The larger Aquadreams have a split ring. I'd suggest adding a small swivel to it. But yes, you fish these slower than you would think. A Johnson silver minnow also works. For bass I would often add a small curly tail to the spoon to limit line twist but I don't know what the redfish or trout would ...

Re: What was I doing wrong on Sunday?
When it comes to inshore, I'm boat challenged/limited. Its either they kayaks and how far can I paddle or my CC and a 2.5' minimum depth. I can take the big boat but have to stay out of the creeks or take the kayaks but that keeps me within a couple of miles of my launch point.

Re: Lighthouse ramp
Curb is to keep you from getting your trailer wheels stuck in that soft mud. that's what I've thought. I've seen some ramps without curbs develop mud holes where the concrete ends that can be deep enough to swallow half of your wheel and then you ain't getting back out with your boat on the trailer.

Re: What was I doing wrong on Sunday?
I like a good outgoing tide to concentrate fish. Moving water is your best friend. When I fish a bar, structure or the like, I just dont throw shallow to the bar, I try to survey the water flow and ledges. These provide good ambush points if your baits are presented naturally. With this clear ...

Re: Reef Fishing advice request
I went fishing for grouper south of Dog Island on Saturday. The bite was slow but we did manage to boat three grouper. The biggest one was 32 inches long. We were mostly using frozen LYs cut in half for bait and we would use a little piece of squid to help the LYs stay on the hook.
We may have ...

Re: Reef Fishing advice request
Struck out on the grouper today using frozen cigar minnows. Plenty of bait stealers but did catch one nice Red Snapper. Too bad its not Snapper season. Wife wants to fish again tomorrow so we are taking the kayaks down to St. Marks.

Reef Fishing advice request
This weekend looks like the GOM will be pretty calm with light winds and I was thinking about taking the Mrs out of Carrabelle to visit some of the reefs there and try to catch some grouper. This will be our first attempt and was hoping to get some advice on bait or lures to take with us. I have ...
