I have always fished Sikes Cut as it is usually and additional 10 miles (or more) of travel to East Pass and I have always had very good luck @ the cut. BUT I have read some people that should know and they say the fishing @ East pass is much more reliable, but that is a point that I cannot attest t...

Well, it is supposed to be, but as far as the Internet is concerned, it is hit or miss. They stated it would be skipped last week because of Bonnie, but it ain't there this week either. :(

That Baitrunner 6500 should handle the job, but if I was going to change something I would go to a little longer leader (6-8 feet) of maybe 100lb. "Bowing to the King" is done for two reasons. When a Tarpon comes out of the water, the wild gyrations will wear the hook hole until it is larg...

I would stick with the Circle Hooks, just go up another size or two. There may be a guide or two that recommends J hooks, but for everyont of those, there are 20 or more that have gone to Circle hooks for Tarpon. The mouth of a Tarpon is harder than a Concrete block :) and if you are using a J hook,...

First, what brand Circle hook. The size of the circle hooks vary greatly between brands. My favorite is the Mustad 39960D in a 14/0. That does not mean you need a 14/0 in other brands. That same hook in an 8/0 makes a good Whiting hook!! :) With the broken leaders, it sounds to me like your son is n...

A John with a 25hp, why didn't you say so. Launch at the bridge. Most of the run from the bridge to just before Goose Island is 5+ feet if you are 500 or more feet from land. Just before you get to Goose Island, be careful. (When the channel takes a 45 degree turn North, there are some dangerous pla...

First the tides are favorable for launching at the bridge next week. All True low tides are after dark. From Monday - Thursday, no tides will be less than 1 foot over low water level. Even Friday and Saturday the lows during daylight will be .8 and .7 feet. There are two boat ramps in the park, but ...

Twin Vee Baycat. http://bigbendsportsman.zeroforum.com/dock?cmd=viewitem&id=38 Please note: Under range it should be; Gas tank holds 36 gallons. It does not use enough fuel to get a good handle on MPG, but on one occasion I know it went 125 miles on 23 gallons of gas. That would make the range 1...

SGI 6-16/6-19 Fishing Report & Trailer Problem

Got to St. George Island for the first time ever in June. Did not know what to expect. Had a problem on the way down, but more on that later. First day fishing was Wednesday. Caught a pair of Lady fish on shrimp. One got a Presidential Pardon, the other was cut bait. Put the head on a large circle h...

Any Crappie Fisherman would look at real funny and ask what took you so long. We have been using slip corks since before me and I am getting close to SS age. :D Oh yeah, they really do work and work real well. When properly set up, they will suspend the baid 15 or 20 feet down oe almost any other de...

Yes it does, since I have a front wheel drive vehicle, my drive wheels will be way up on the shells. I think I am going to have to try it at least once.

Thanks for the check. :)  :)
