I have a 2015 Carolina skiff 198 dlv. there are five bilge drains in the transom. (Can’t figure out how to post pic) I’m trying to better understand how the hull is constructed and figure out why I take on water (very little).
Hull: basically a “tri-hull”, three separate bilges, yes? Based on some ...

Re: Tripletail late July - Alligator Point
Ok thanks. So you’re saying inside the barrier islands? Better chances than going outside the islands?

Tripletail late July - Alligator Point
Looking to chase some tripletail while visiting alligator point next week. I’ve got a decent understanding of tackle/approach/tactic, and I understand general thought is the TT’s are bigger towards Apalachicola, agree? If so, better chances cruising outside St. George Island or inside the bay? May ...

Handheld VHF Radio Advice
Looking for input on a very basic handheld radio. I’d like one for the one to two trips to the gulf we make a year. And considering I’ve got no intention of going more than 10 miles “offshore”.

Best bottom fishing rig
Hi there, looking for any suggestions on the best bottom fishing set up for the shallower reefs in 15 to 25 feet? Particularly best method to tie on weight and leader? Will be at alligator point at the end of July and planning to explore some of the near shore reefs. Planning to stay within five or ...

Re: Econfina River - first time advice
Also curious about Navionics. Looks pretty user friendly? Can you download for areas with no signal and still track your location?
Would you recommend this (or anything else) for someone who gets to Florida once or twice a year?

Re: Econfina River - first time advice
Appreciate the input! Nice and slow it is.
I was planning on the head end springs. A little easier to coerce a wife on the short paddle and deal with boat in tow (and possibly drop the Carolina skiff in as a plan B?? The ramp looks adequate from what I can tell.)

Econfina River - first time advice
I’ve got a couple nights towards the end of July at Econfina resort and looking forward to exploring the area on the boat (Carolina skiff 198 dlv). I grew up shallow water fishing/boating in SW FL, just never here.
Any advice would be welcome. I’ve read a lot of posts on here from years back…. Stay ...
