Econfina ??

Might try it tomorrow. Never been there. Directions from Tally, where to get bait, launch? Can you put in with a -0.5 tide? Thanks.

The two of us fished 60-80 feet, strong rising tide all day, no bait at the O tower yet. Boxed 3 gags, one red, and a huge triggerfish on LY's and boston mackeral. Had to leave by 2, glad we did. The 20 kt west wind arrived as predicted. Water temp 61.4 offshore.

Cold and wet. Water temp was 64 at the creek mouths, up the creeks it dropped to 58. Got one big sheepshead to the boat side before he got off. Three reds just shy of legal. Don't know where the trout are. Used shrimp on a jig head. Gonna try a little deeper this weekend.

They're still "up the lake" I'm told. I fished from Ingram's to the dam a couple of weeks ago and came up empty. Should start picking up by march, hit or miss til then.

Carrabelle 02-09-05

Squeezed in a half day trip. Started out in 35 feet with only shorts. Worked out to 60 feet, anchoring on about a half dozen spots. Bite was slow until the current picked up late. Boxed 4 gags and one red to 26" on LY's. Lots of grunts and bass around, one legal red snapper in 35 ft, released. ...

Spring Creek 02-04-05

Put in about noon, NE wind 15kts, water temp 58. Fished high and low looking for a red, not today. Had live shrimp and worked it real slow off the bottom without a bite for two hours. Finally stuck one on a cajun thunder and threw it out in an eight foot hole while I continued to bounce the bottom w...

Talk to Steve Stinson, he's got a 2100. I had the 2300 and you can order it with a t-top and leaning post. I ran a 225 on it (max hp) and the boat would almost achieve level flight, so I imagine the 150 would be fine.

Fog finally let up at the end of dog island. Smooth near shore, 2-3 offshore. Picked up two gags in 75' on LY's then the bite slowed (except for the >16" red snapper). Worked our way in but didn't find any more decent fish until we got to 35'. Boxed five more including one red. All fish were he...

C-Quarters used to carry 8 oz unpainted jig heads pretty cheap. I bought all they had a couple of months ago and they haven't got any more in yet last I checked. Adding a glow in the dark split tail grub and jigging with 80 lb power pro on a penn 7500 in 150 ft of water is death to red grouper. The ...
