On Wednesday there was a Leon County Deputy in the same spot who said that all launches were closed and we would need to turn aro...

St. Marks, make that, Dickerson Bay / Oyster Bay July 13

Next week I start a new job so I planned on a lot of fishing this week. Then the hurricane! Nonetheless headed for St. Marks today to launch at the Fort only to be turned away by a Deputy. On to Bottoms Road, Weavan's country. Never used the ramp before. On the way in the wrack was piled up like sno...

It was quiet on the water yesterday, too quiet, glad to have a good motor. Only saw one other boat. The ramp at the Fort had a sign "Closed Use at Your own Risk". The floating docks were gone. From what I could see the channel markers along the St. Marks were in place - but would hate to b...

St. Marks July 12

With sister-in-law from Naples launched at the Fort at 4. Two other vehicles in lot. Tide high. Southerly wind and waves encourged East River. Near mouth caught small trout and along marsh netted finger mullet and pinfish. Ran up river and watched 'special guest' catch two excellent Redfish - 21&quo...

Some hard earned experience: even at a very high tide watch for obstructions on the spoil mounds on either side of the bird rack. One day I decided to run across the east side thinking there was plenty of water only to strike a ghost trap that basically wrapped around my prop and broke off a blade. ...

Like Chugbug, I use a green tarp and bungee cords. Works fine except for mildew problems if I let it sit too long in the summer. I like green since it blends into the neighorhood better.

I have been using an entry level Hummingbird for five years and it works great although more useful for tracking the bottom then spotting fish. Wish I had one that showed the water temperature.

GPS for Rock Garden

Does anyone have GPS numbers for the rocks in the Rock Garden? The major ones I have from this and the OAR site and from riding around but its the smaller subsurface ones that worry me. Like the one that wreaked lower unit a few years back.

another story

My buddy and I were out front of Spring Creek yesterday when a boat flys past coming from our rear quarter. Not a good feeling.
