Welcome! Last weekend we went to Dog Island (which is right next door)and tried for the pompano but did not find any. The next day my fishing buddy talked to a friend and said they were out there also and caught several small pompano just jiggin a red head with a live shrimp. Guess we weren't in the...

Great info, yall rock! Thanks! I haven't bought a good one yet but I did go and buy a cheapy from Wally-world $60, just to play a little and see if I can even manage it before I go spending $200 or so. Its 8'6'' 6-weight Angler Science or something like that. Went to lake Jackson and played with a l...

Fly fishing the flats

Good day ladies and gents! You all have been posting some awesome reports! Thanks for the tips! A buddy and I are headed out to St. Marks this weekend. All those reports have got me to where I can't hardly sit still. If what I am feeling is anything close to what a junkie feels when one is "jon...

Well I rented a yak this weekend. I did enjoy it but I don't think it's something I would do enough to warrant buying one. I may rent one from time to time though.

hahaha I didn't even notice the color! :o Never mind, not my choice of color either. I did notice the weight and it did seem rather heavy. Do you find the weight makes a difference in the handling or the performance? slow?

Lit, that's the same thing I was thinking. I found a light weight two-piece paddle here in tally, it was on clearance from $150 down to $70. They only had two of them left! Too bad I don't even have a yak yet. Nathan, I found new Perception Bimini 15 on-line for $579 plus $100 for shipping. http://w...

I think I'd rather have a kayak with less drag, don't want to get wore out and not be able to fish! :-) I may be able to attend the March 5th demo. I will give them a call for the particulars. Billy, I may take you up on your offer some time..... looks like this weekend gonna be too windy. Depending...

Thanks fellas! Checked out the Prowler 13 and the Tarpon 120, I like them both. I am guessing the width determines the speed, less drag. They are not as wide as the Fish N Dive (36 inches). Do you find that the Tarpon and the Prowler are stable enough when wiggling around on them? Again, if anyone k...

Questions for you "pro-yak-fishers"...

I fish the flats pretty regularly but have to wait on my buddies schedule to free up so we can take his boat. I am interested in kayak fishing. It seems like it would be easier to take out than a 22 foot Sea Pro.... Actually I have almost talked myself into buying a used Cobra Fish-n-Dive for $580. ...

Weather it be our tactics or the cold, we dang sure couldn't get them to bite. I do like the idea of free lineing the bait though. Just hard to cast a good distance.

Skag, we were talking about the boat landing just past the 98 bridge on the left.

MJ, Don't know about a public lanch. We put in at some small marina, they used the lock box like at the light house. Heading west on 98, we took a left just after the bridge. There are two ramps there, one is straight down the road and the other (the one we used) was to the left about 150 yards befo...
