40# mono leader. Clarke spoons work well trolling. Rig them up with a small feather duster or king duster about 3' in front of the spoon. Depending on how deep and how fast you want to fish you probably need a trolling weight about 8-10' in front of all of this. 1 or 2 oz. is probably sufficient for...

Close the bail by hand before starting to wind the handle. Also make sure you have at least an 1/8" between the top of the line on the spool and the spool rim. A couple more guides is a good thing as long as they are aligned on the rod correctly. Most commercial rods don't have enough guides. I...

I have a decent sized console on my bay boat, but that is the way I went as well. I love the clean look it leaves. All you have visible outside the console is the RAM Mic. Many of the online discount marine electronics places have the PS1000 for a little over $100, so good price as well.

Looks like fun. I've caught some really good fish in golf course ponds over the years, including a 9lb. 3oz. largemouth. What's up with the bream in picture #4. It's missing a tail. Looks like you got several nice stumpknockers as well.

Sounds like either a bearing or the anti-reverse bearing. Easy enough to tear it apart then clean and oil all of them. Clean the bearings in a film container with lighter fluid then dry and oil with a low viscosity oil. The anti-reverse bearing needs grease. Let me know if I can help.

I have a manual jackplate on my Gheenoe that is easily adjustable while on the water. I've seen some guys spot weld a ratcheting wrench to the adjusting nut so they can reach back and do it on the fly. The Gheenoe only has a 15hp motor though. With larger engines it isn't feasible to adjust a manual...

I have a CMC ML-65 manual jackplate that I'll make someone a real good deal on. Won't fit on my Bayboat because the hydraulic steering ram hits the transom when tilting the engine.

Tri-State Marine

Has anyone ever had any work done at Tri-State Marine between Tallahassee and Midway? I drive by there almost daily and have been wondering if they do good work.

Thanks,

Try an albright knot. Instructions are on the little paper inside the Powerpro box. 25-30 wraps of the braid on the mono is what you need.

Inflatable PFD's are great for this reason. Comfortable to wear and provide more flotation than your average non-inflatable. I have a pouch on mine that holds 3 aerial flares, whistle, signal mirror, and a dye pack.

I've mostly used braid for the past 4-5 years. 8, 10, and 15# Sufix Performance Braid is my choice now for inshore duty. For heavier stuff I use a mix of Sufix and Tuf-Line. I've never had a problem with the knots in braid that many speak of. Closing the bail by hand and not just turning the handle ...
