Re: Scalloping Keaton beach 6/23/18
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I've only been to Keaton one time and it wasn't a necessarily busy day. That is a BAD design for ramp/truck & trailer parking/boat access, as are most of the other saltwater ramps I've used/seen in Fl. & Ga.. I competed in and ran bass tournaments from Ky ...

Re: Carrabelle River, 3rd week of June
We wound up just trailering to Lanark Market, since I am more familiar with the fishing areas over there. Plus, it way too dang hot to idle for that long to get out on the Carrabelle River!! As far as the fishing goes....it was as bad as I've ever experienced down there. We went out early on the ...

Re: Carrabelle River, 3rd week of June
Time is drawing near to head to Carrabelle. Anybody fishing that area have any reports? I'm thinking Dog Island Reef may be a good spot to try. Would I be better off just to trailer over to Lanark Market to put in, instead of going out of Carrabelle, just to avoid the long idle out?

bbb, We will be staying right in that big curve. With all the rain coming, I will keep a check to make sure the house is still there.

Re: Carrabelle River, 3rd week of June
Thanks Steve, I figured the fish would be out on the flats or beyond, but I just wanted to be sure. I'll check out those bars if the water's right when I'm down there. Thanks again.

Carrabelle River, 3rd week of June
Does anyone bother fishing up the river(s) at Carrabelle this time of year? We'll be staying at a riverfront rental at the big curve about 3/4 mi. above the bridge in Carrabelle, and I'm just trying to find out if fishing up the river would be worth it. Also, if I run west from the mouth of the ...

Re: Dog Island/Lanark/Carrabelle
The grass between Lanark and Carrabelle is always a good. The tops of the steep ledges of the marked channel that runs by the west end of Lanark Reef out to Dog Island can be good at times.

Re: MADFIN apparel Rod
Very nice!
I received a GM casting rod from my wife for our anniversary last Sept. and took it on it's maiden voyage last weekend. Third cast of the day, I hook a decent ladyfish. As I lifted it into the boat, about 10 inches of the rod broke cleanly off. It's trash now. I'm going to replace it ...

4-28 First trip to Keaton
My son and I went with a friend in his bay boat that is familiar with the area. Fished within 3-4 miles south of the ramp. We caught lots of short trout, only one keeper, which we released. We also caught a bunch of sea bass, a few Spanish, including one grown one that got off at boat and the usual ...

Re: Carabelle help
I have good luck in 3-4 ft. of water where sand/grass meet all the way from Ho-Hum Campground all the way to Carrabelle. Z-Man Shrimp or Trout Trick on a jig head alone or under a popping cork and bone colored walking baits.

Re: Soft plastics?
I started using ZMan soft plastics last year. (Tired of donating all brands of plastic bodies to the fishies) Relatively expensive? Yes, but I used two shrimp bodies and one shad body in a full day of fishing/catching. (Lots of trout and ladyfish) Tough does not do these baits justice! It takes some ...
