Okay, it's after 2. I'm loading the gear in the car.

I don't mind waiting an hour or so for anybody that wants to go hurt some fish.

Short Fuse

Apologize for the short fuse, but I'm going this afternoon. Let me know if anybody can go and I'll send a message with my phone #. We can work out the details. If I don't hear from anybody I'm leaving my house at 2:30 (2 hrs from right now) and walk in somewhere. Haven't decided where, it depends on...

Nice report Birddog. One of the problems I have with a green fish up close, particularly big trout, is putting too much pressure on them and ripping the hooks loose.

Problems, Problems, Problems

My old 'puter finally gave up and died. It gave me enough problems that I giggled with a maniacal tic in my left eye as I threw it in the compactor at the dump and asked the employee there if he would flip the switch so I could watch it crush. He did. That was the fourth one I've had in 9 years befo...

Coffee sounds good, TC, or maybe we could get together and go fishing. SR, I use all kinds of tackle depending on what I'm doing. Have several fly and light spinning outfits. However, normally, and for no-foolin'-around-fishin'-for-groceries, I use a 6' Berkley Lightning Rod with an Ambassadeur 5600...

West Side Story 8/21

Well, everybodies gone. Everything's all cleaned up and put away from Dad's 70th B-Day party/fish fry. Decided to take a break after all that work over the weekend and left the house a little before 5 this afternoon in the edge of a thunder-boomer. Went to a point in the marsh that I know on the wes...

Live Oak Island 8/20

Took a casting rod with a Yo-Zuri Mag Darter knock-off on it and snuck off from a family function to wade down to the Rock Pile (southern most tip of the island), after 4 as the tide was still high but beginning to fall well. 6th cast, BAM, slot red. As I was getting him unhooked and on the stringer...

8/19 Full Moon Low

Dad and younger brother are here for a visit. Without getting too specific on the location, it's a spot that's been productive for us for decades and generations. We took advantage of the full moon low and when the water was still almost waist deep at the beach, shortly after 6, we waded about 2/3 o...

West Goose Creek 8/17

Rode a bike, actually just for grins I took the wife's bike today, to Wakulla Beach. Left the house at noon, fishing West Goose Creek by one hoping on the high tide I could maybe catch some trout and reds up along the edge of the grass working on the finger mullet. Nothing; nada; zilch; big, fat, fu...

Honestly, I have no idea, Sir. The creek meanders back there and so did I. Plus I didn't walk it all in one shot, but stopped to fish and scare the mullet with my cast net here and there. I drove the car that day and I know when I got home I was a lot more tired than I am when I ride my bike down th...

Went west from Wakulla Beach to West Goose Creek. Then went northwestish up the east side of the creek to the levee. All the folks I see walk in fishing there go to the first long bar, it's the easiest to get to, so I go further up. I've been thinking about walking east from Wakulla Beach, Graves Cr...

West Goose Creek 8/15

Parked at Wakulla Beach and walked in to fish the late afternoon low tide. Caught one 21 inch red on a Bill Dance Swimmin' Image shallow runner. Good thing he was in the slot because he took the entire plug in his mouth tail first. Rear treble all the way back in his throat. Worked my way back to th...

Re: Sea Anchor

Do I really have to pay $150 for an emergency sea anchor? Are there less expensive alternatives? $150 is a pretty good price for a sea anchor, but as far as I know there's not a regulation to carry one. Although, there could be a regulation that applies to boats over a certain length. If you do dec...

Another thing to think about is, a large enough life-jacket on a small enough child will have enough floatation low enough on his body to want to hold him head down.

I didn't see anything in the article that specifically indicated taking water over the stern. If that were the case, how the boat was being handled has a lot more to do with it than the size of the boat. Other possibilities for taking on water that I didn't see mentioned, or ruled out, are: structur...
