Don't know about the aluminum, but a friend of mine put Lexan caps on his runners years ago. He has a Carolina Skiff. Right after he did it we found out to make sure the boat is tied to the trailer before backing down the ramp. This stuff is a lot more slick than carpet. No damage, the boat n...

To elaborate, hypothetically say you're up on a grass flat catching trout in the 12-14" range. You probably are not going to have to move far. Try the nearest "structure" that provides some kind of "edge". If your on grass, try a grass/sand edge, or a shallower/deeper edge, ...

To me, the Rock Garden extends from east of the light house, to further than I have been past the Aucilla River. Just remember Aucilla is an old Seminole word that means, "need new lower unit." A great place to fish, very productive area. I predict it will be especially hot this summer. FR...

If you're catching a lot of undersize trout on a given trip, move and maybe change tactics a little bit. Trout tend to socialize by size class, with the real big boys being loners and not shy about snacking on a younger brother or sister. :lick:

If somebody at your table is squeamish and you need to camouflage the worms just deep fry the fish. If they ask, tell'em it's just a vein.

You want to be very careful here. They look a lot alike, but while a blond Florida hair may work, a blond Calfornia hair will turn your reel into a tempermental liberal.

Oh No <gasp> a hair? Once they've had a hair in them they're done. Send it to me, I'll get rid of it for you, free of charge. What kind of oil are you using? On my Ambassadeurs I've found to stick with old school 3-n-1, Marvel or something similar and stay away from the teflon "super&quo...

Something else that works well around weeds is a Johnson Silver Minnow spoon with a pork rind trailer. The broke-back Rapalas are good, but in real weedy places, like most of the Wakulla, anything with treble hooks tends to get hung up a lot. Does the Wakulla still have the long eel grass weeds? It ...

Thanks Luke, what I mean is how big of line can you put on a reel before you are exceeding the capabilities of the equipment. How much fish can that reel handle before its to much. If you have a reel that holds 200 yds of 20# and you use 65# braid and put the same amount on can the reel handle that...

I like the size larger than that, the one with the rounded props. In chrome, it's my all time favorite top-water for trout and reds. The yellow/black stripes and white/black stripes work well too. Although I have caught keeper reds on crankbaits while fishing for bass in that long, deep hole just be...

Cool what'd you catch them on?

I've had pretty good luck on that river with a yellow Snagless Sally, but it's been a long time since I've fished it.

How big a reds are we talking here? For reds in the slot, and sometimes even a little bigger, I like an Ambassadeur 5500C3 on a suitable Berkley Lightning rod. For line I used to like Ande Premium 12 lb. test, but now that's a close second to Yo-Zuri Hybrid 12 lb. test. :)

I like monofilament, so for trout and reds I just tie directly to the main line. :)

When I first got into spearfishing on scuba we did it thinking it would be an easier way to catch more fish. This was back before anybody dove with computers, there was no such thing as a dive computer. That misconception was rapidly proven false, it's easier and more efficient to catch them on a ro...

You can't be within 100 yards of any fixed point on land. I dont see why you couldn't spear a mullet, but you'd have to find one at least 100 yards out. I'm wondering where you saw this regulation, Wil. The closest thing I've ever seen to this restriction is, "Within 100 yards of all public ba...
