Blue Ridge Guide
Bought 6 days in Blue Ridge at the CCA banquet. Looking for a guide recommendation. Open to float trip or wading. I’ve done independent trips in N GA before with decent success. Not looking to do that as the house sleeps 12, and we’ll have a bunch of family visiting. Just looking for a day of escape...

Re: Fishing thru floating grass
Several options:
Throw top water and although frustrating look for a hit in you first couple twitches…then keep splashing with grass attached. Don’t think it won’t still get hit.
Throw weedless jerk bait.
Head to a creek or a flat protected from the wind where grass can’t form lines

Run a pretty large Hummingbird on my Ranger. Love the graphing and side imaging in those depths. Better than the Lowrance HDS I had previously. Can’t speak to the unit you reference. Let us know what you decide.

Re: NFGFC 2021 Tournaments
Sounds like going to Bumpa’s Thursday night is easiest. Apparently some changes took place. Weigh-in appears to be lanark. They’ll clarify acceptable ramps I’m sure. There are no additional fees for side pots this year. Everything is included. Flounder, big red, spotted red and big trout will all ge...

Re: FSUS Ducks Unlimited Tournament (Redfish & Trout)
You deserve a ticket if you bring a short fish to tournament scales. you’re allowed to have a trout over 19, so putting it in the weighmaster’s hand doesn’t automatically mean an angler broke a law. If you bring a red over 27” it’s a bad look. Not saying I agree with the rule (I don’t), but it makes...

Glad to hear the transition is going well Dave.
Eightwt-you might be surprised at some of the tippit records for red snapper. I believe some could be broken in our neck of the woods...

Re: incoming tide or outgoing tide
Chris is right. Depends on what you’re doing. Going back in creeks you want to work with the tide. Flats can go either way depending on type structure and wind. Quiet boat control and understanding what’s happening to the bait are key. Moving is better than not moving.

Good reports. Have a safe trip back. I am going Glacier this summer. Do you have a guide recommendation out of whitefish?

Re: Pole Barn/Metal Building Recommendations
Bought a 24x36 pole barn kit from Gulf Coast Lumber. Later had a slab poured. Then hung siding and had Rose City hang a garage door. Gemeni ran pier for me. Two boats, tractor and zero turn and a bunch of Rubbermaid’s on shelving fully protected. Only bad decision was 10’ tall. Gave me a 9’ door so ...

Re: Good areas for a novice "captain"
Honestly the boat is more limiting than anything you’re doing. If you want to play in rivers, shallow southern lakes or on the flats, then I would consider a boat swap for something that drafts shallower.

Re: St. Marks Flats Fishing ?
Probably caught 70 slot trout on the flats last Saturday. Double up every cast for a couple drifts until we went in search of other fish.
