Re: NFGFC August Tournament: Rock Landing

Apologies, I missed the thread with the forms. Might be a good idea to sticky that one to the top for the slow folks such as myself. ;-) Also, if you create an event on the FB page people can show interest (e.g. click interested or going, which will show up on their feeds for other people to see) an...

Re: NFGFC August Tournament: Rock Landing

Are there going to be details for this and upcoming tournaments posted anywhere? I've checked the FB page but can't find anything.

Re: ST George Island--places to eat

Start off with some drinks and live music at Tamara's if they've got someone playing, then to the owl for dinner, and finish the night at Oyster City.

I've not been impressed by Blue Parrot the last few times I've gone.

Re: Trim Tabs: Self-Leveling vs Electric

Slightly over idle and it wanders just slightly. Anything more than that and it handles wonderfully. No trouble getting on plane, no porpoising, very dry ride. I like to put in at Shields and occasionally do a river ride with the family, so low speed is common. It's a Century 1701. It's a v-hull, so...

Re: Trim Tabs: Self-Leveling vs Electric

Juan - I do have an anode and it is centered and in good shape. The boat wanders left and right equally. Nole.. a four blade prop provides more thrust and promotes a smoother cruise speed. I believe that’s where FWC was hinting at. Have you tried to redistribute your weight in the vessel? Sent from ...

Re: Trim Tabs: Self-Leveling vs Electric

Trimming up on the motor seems to make things worse. Can't imagine how a four-blade would make that much of a difference over a three blade, but I may try it down the road. The purpose of this thread is about the trim tabs. When you say ehh, is that meaning you don't think it will work? I've looked ...

As far as I can tell (visually) it is straight. The boat wanders left and right equally, and tracks straight at speed, so I have no reason to believe it's warped.

Re: Trim Tabs: Self-Leveling vs Electric

I have never heard that trim tabs would help with low speed steering, but I guess it helps steady the rear of the boat and keep it on track. Did you notice the same behavior with the cable steering? Is your engine tilted up when idling? I have noticed that my 17' Mako ProSkiff wanders a lot more wh...

Trim Tabs: Self-Leveling vs Electric

TL:DR - for the purpose of improving low speed tracking and reducing wander, is the added cost of electric tabs worth it over Self-Leveling tabs? I have a 17' bay boat that is giving me fits with low speed wandering. I feel like the town drunk riding up and down the river. I don't mean the slight wa...

St. Marks 6/5/21

Took the family fishing on the east flats Saturday morning (7:30-12:00) trying to snag a Redfish and then a Spanish Mackerel at my wife's request. Needed to be a quick trip, so Dog Island wasn't an option. Missed on the reds and macks, but did catch a mess of trout and a few African Pompano [EDIT: F...

Re: Looking for a new house where I can park my boat

Unfortunately, you've picked the worst possible time to buy a house and land. Prices are off the deep end high, and homes rarely sell for only asking price. People are throwing cash at real estate right now. A lot of people believe a real estate correction (best case) or crash (at least a decent cha...

Re: Fish bit someone at St marks sandbar

Are y’all catching the puffers on live bait? We’ve been fishing the refuge every weekend since March ( too windy to get offshore) and haven’t caught a single one. Plenty of reds and trout, but no trash fish. I can't get out if the damn things. They've destroyed a bunch of tackle and a net for me. S...
